I’m about over all of this stuff. This is why the decision to drag this out for years was ill-advised. I don’t think I’m alone in being increasingly grumpy as it drags on. Wright clearly understands fans want this over with, but he insists on stubbornly continuing what is really laborious process. My opinion.

These things are such a mess. The fact they changed the name yet thought Warriors would be ok shows they didn’t actually know what they were up against. I like many others believe they changed the name for the wrong reasons. They did it not because they believed it was offensive, but to stem criticism from sponsors, social media, and corporate media. Especially with the sexual harassment scandal about to break. And since they were just heading off criticism, why not just pick a like name and everyone will no longer criticize. It doesn’t work that way. They now can’t pick any name that is remotely associated with Native Americans and most likely a whole list of other things they can’t associate with. This is a typical knee jerk reaction thinking criticism will stop if we just give them a little bit. It won’t happen and now they have no idea what to do because this was done in haste with no plan and no idea what to do.

To be fair a lot of the 'mess' and fabricated outrage is fan and media oriented. If we're looking at things coming out of Ashburn there has been very little. There has been a fever pitch regarding social media speculation, and the only real information we've gotten regarding the name is the expected announcement of 'early 2022' and that it will not be the Warriors. A lot of the other stuff has been speculative.

The team has not even painted over the endzone art in the practice bubble.

I can acknowledge that they have put together a good leadership team almost across the board to try and right the ship. But just related to the name change, here are my gripes:

1. Don’t tell your fan base the name will never change unless you are prepared to go to hell and back to stand by that. That’s on Snyder - but that was the first huge mistake. That reversal made it even more important they handled what happens after that gracefully. They haven’t.

2. Don’t post pics and video of your staff scrubbing the facility of the previous name the day after it’s announced and then be shocked when the fanbase freaks. They didn’t even think about how that would look to fans.

3. Don’t leak lists of potential names to the media that include ones that sound like a local Girl Scout troop came up with them. It makes the entire process look amateurish. Go Belters!

4. Don’t tell fans how important them being a part of the name change process is, then unilaterally take fan favorite possibilities (Warriors) off the table because you ‘personally’ think they could somehow offend someone. Who are you representing?

5. Stop telling the fanbase how important team history is while (without fan input or forwarding or even good explanations) eliminating 2 major parts of team history, the First Ladies of Football and the Redskins Band.

6. When the entire fanbase says ‘get this done and over with’ (and that is close to being a universal sentiment imho), stop with the endless corporate explanations and accelerate the decision.

Those are just the obvious missteps the new decision-making team has made. I’m not saying they shouldn’t ultimately have taken some of these actions but they have been handled clumsily and without much regard for how fans might feel about them.[/rant]

Great points !! The one that really bothers me is number 5 .. They love to say ,like you said how important “history” is , yet the only part of our history they’ll keep is our uniform color . It’s disgraceful! Cooperate speak sucks

And another thing .. my kids grew up loving the band and thought it was cool we were the only one who had one .. and if anyone got a chance to hear them playing in the corridor walking out of the stadium after a win was a big deal for us !!! Great memories
