Jason Wright floating the plan to keep the 'WFT' moniker not just this season, but through the 2021 season. This may be a new regime with lots of fresh blood, but one thing that Julie Donaldson, Jason Wright, and others leading the 'culture change' efforts have demonstrated is a tendency towards tonedeafness when it comes to what this fanbase has gone through and what will resonate with them. I've been supportive of them on social media, mostly because I think they are solid people brought in to elevate the integrity and professionalism of the organization. But in my mind, like highlighting images of the 'Redskins' name and logo being stripped from Redskins Park and Fed Ex Field as if expecting fans to embrace these changes as 'exciting', casually throwing this out there really irritates me.

You will have had more than a year to select and implement a new name. That is an enormous amount of time. I don't care about your marketing plan.

Just. Pick. A. Damn. Name.

I've stated previously that I'm in favor of leaving it as WFT, even though every football fan I know still calls the team Redskins. I can't wrap my head around any of the suggestions posted online and I don't know if I could ever refer to the team as another moniker/nick name. I know in time they'll come up with some lame, pc name but for now I'll enjoy the WFT.

I have heard others say 'keep WFT'. Of course you have a right to your opinion as we all do - I just don't get it. I cringe every time I hear us referred to as 'Football Team'. It's literally the lamest move ever by a pro sports team, as if being labeled a bunch of racists weren't bad enough. I know a lot of folks no longer care what the team is eventually named, but for me, if it's lame, that'll probably push me the rest of the way off the cliff.

So what you're saying is "Unicorns" is off your list of choices :poop:

Man, it would be nice if they suspended the name change til new ownership took over and was a part of the process.....

hmmm.....

If they pull this move, I'm done. No one forced you to change the name Snyder. You vowed you never would and then caved like the gutless little man you are. Going full on passive-aggressive by keeping a non-name won't change that.

They'll settle on a name, simply for merchandise, no one's buying WFT gear so I can't see if staying that way for the long haul.

I tend to agree with this. You never want to be the guy replacing the legend. You want to be the guy replacing the guy who replaced a legend. The team name is the same way. A legendary franchise and iconic name in NFL History. I think they have much more success strictly from a branding and marketing standpoint by going with a new name. Also, staying with WFT just seems lazy, like they don’t want to spend the time or effort on something new.

Snyder has to run his focus groups 😛

Seriously, how long did it take Pollin to change Bullets to Wizards?

This team just can’t seem to get out of its own way on or off the field.

Uninspiring team, uninspiring name, uninspiring play on the field for almost 30 years. This franchise has been blessed with the most loyal group of suckers for a fanbase, and gives absolutely nothing back. I can barely muster the energy to watch every Sunday anymore. I need to make the smart decision and find the courage to walk away for good at some point.

The Snyder era has been mostly a disaster - but you're overstating it. There have been some great performances, memorable moments, and even some decent seasons. It's not enough by a mile, but I don't think fans of this franchise are 'suckers'.

This is brilliant stroke of distracting prominence. A sort of "anti-marketing" tactic.

Snyder wants the shock of something so generic so people just crack up, laugh and then pay no further attention to the real naughty matter he's dealing with, which is the sex scandal.

The "pressure" to make him change the team's name came extremely conveniently for Dan Snyder.

I honestly don't think any new name is going to go over well with a majority. some will love it, some will hate it.

Personally, I only call them the Redskins. if anyone tries to correct it with me, they know I am not playing and laugh when they say it. It is very ridiculous, but unfortunately this is the name.

My gut tells me it’s gonna be ‘Warriors’

it’ll probably be something stupid like the Warlocks, or Bravehearts

CAN YOU DIIIIIIIIG IIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!
