D'oh!

Rich Campbell:
"Malcolm Kelly left practice early today with a sore right foot. #Redskins"

John Keim:
"Kelly has a sore foot. Bothered him for a few days. Says he'll be back out friday. #redskins"

OK I lold at Grant Hill legs.

I don't put much faith in one on ones, its rare in a game that you get to pin your ears back and go one on one, so I wouldnt worry to much with chester, he will rarely be standing still like in one on ones in this scheme, however I am waiting to see where we use Jenkins and if we will turn him loose or expect him to stand and hold.

Am I surprised Kelly and Torain are hurting?

No and neither is Shanahan. That's why we traded for Hightower and drafted three receivers.

Kelly doesn't have any more free passes. He has to perform this August or he is off the team.

Lots of comments about how sparse training camp is this year. Are people pissed about the lockout? Or is it the extreme heat keeping them away? I'd say a combination of both - on a normal year, they'd be out there, heat or not.

Twenty years of losing is taking it's toll

the heat is a major factor. the lockout and the emotions people feel about being taken on a roller coaster is also something that has to be considered.

is the fact there is no Deion Sanders or Albert Haynesworth coming on board as a free agent having an effect? perhaps, but when the Redskins had a contending team there were fewer individual stars and more lunch pail players than on the Giants, 49ers or Bears.

I think there's something in the hearts of Redskins fans that isn't normally part of the equation this time of the year...

Realism.

No one but a complete homer expects us to break .500 this season. Achieving .500 would be tantamount to a playoff year for this team. Fans know it. That doesn't mean they aren't going to root for the guys, but it's enough to make this skip a hot, humid sweatbath to watch them or snag an autograph before fighting DC traffic back home. Not having a QB you'd even notice in the booth next to you on a Friday night out is also a factor.

agree......I'm interested, but struggling to sustain interest as well....especially watching the Iggles aggressive moves...that still leaves them with an ample draft next year. QB thought is spot on.

It's a combination of factors.

First, no one knew when TC would happen or IF it would happen at all. Some fans need to give their employers advance notice of taking time off.

Second, the economy is in extremely rough shape and that affects a certain number of fans. Looking for a job or going to TC for a few days? TC is simply not an option for those who are seeking work.

Third, there were a number of fans who were turned off by the lock out and the antics between players and owners. Time heals wounds, but the standoff just ended and the harsh memories are fresh in the minds of some fans.

Fourth, the weather does play a part.

Fifth, the recent signings have been rather uneventful. While this fresh new approach to FA is the way to go, it represents a change that some fans don't like. Some find it boring.

Overall, not too worried about fan attendance at TC. It is the same story for TCs across the league. Let's see what the regular season brings before we push the panic button.

Honestly - I could care less about attendance at TC or games - what difference does it make to me? Stop gouging your damn fan base, trying to pimp all things Redskins all the time for every dime you can squeeze, and actually put a consistent winning product on the field - fans will come out of the woodwork. Snyder should worry about empty seats. I think there will be more this year than we've seen in a long time.

The market determines the value of tickets, concessions, collectibles, etc. If the economy continues to stay in a foul mood, ALL team owners will need to adjust accordingly.

Speaking for myself only, I don't attend games for a couple of reasons. First, the prices turn me off. Years ago, you could take the entire family to a game for a reasonable price and it was an enjoyable experience. Today, you need to budget for it. Eh, forget that stuff. Sure, I will go if someone gives me a free ticket or for a few pesos, but not much more.

Second, the fan experience is not what it used to be. Fans now attend games and in many situations, they fear for their safety - or lives. It's not worth it.

Attend a preseason game? Maybe. Attend a regular season/paloff game? Under certain circumstances only. Attend an away game? Uh, no.

I think Boone hit the nail on the head, this is normally the time of year when im excited and willing to talk football with anyone , fans of any team, this year I am almost embarrassed because I know damn well my team is probably going to be slightly improved overall but still not very good. that bugs me.

Sitting here on the sidelines at camp, here are a couple of impressions:

Rex is better than Beck. I don't care how much of a company man Bexk is.

Sellars is stil practicing with TE's.

Paul has soft hands. Kid looks good.

Helu and Hightower should make a nice 1-2 punch.

Stallworth is a professional. Don't be surprised if he ends up on this team.

If there is any question...Kyle runs this offense.

uggghhhh...if Rex is the best we have, then this team will continue to be a bottom dweller until that position is upgraded. it's not an accident that ABSOLUTELY no one was interested in RG while he was unsigned.

Oh yeah... Brandon Banks is a clown. Kid needs to mature. I have to admit, its refreshing to see Sellars practicing hard. He must realize the reality of his situation.

As in youthful exuberance, or disruptive ?

Pete, in the beginning of practice he was clowning enough to be disruptive. Throughout the practice you could see players kinda begin to separate themselves from him. As soon as practice was over he went straight to the fans and started signing autographs. It just seemed he wasn't taking things seriously and was much more interested in the fanfare.
