No doubt its been some bad decades.
I think though even if this season ends up going south, next season they have a shot at going all the way.
As I've mentioned, am no pollyana, I was one of the most critical people here as how it felt coming into the season where I predicted a slow start. It's been even worse than i predicted but I didn't guess we'd have an insane number of injuries. But a setback season didn't seem out of the equation for me.
But as I explained at the time, I thought (and still do) that some setbacks would be good for the overall psyche of this front office, coaching staff and team.
I think they were all feeling themselves a bit too much -- had fears that they'd lose their edge for reasons i explained at the time. When a reporter asked Quinn how would it feel to be the hunted versus the hunters -- he had a good response. But it didn't feel like this team was adjusting to being the hunted.
When you watch the Bears, Cowboys celebrating beating them -- you feel that vibe that they slayed a giant. They were fired up and celebrated a bit too much IMO. I expected the Bears and Dallas to have let down games now.
I don't think other teams per se think this team are giants anymore considering how vulnerable they are looking -- but considering they were an in vogue SB pick by some and they got close last year -- I think teams really circled this one on their calender. I don't feel that this team has looked as emotionally fired up to play than their opponents among other things.
I think that might change now. Quinn for the first time seemed pissed off last Sunday. And I think it was telling when he said he was "very" surprised by how the season went. It felt like they felt like they can just coast their way through the season and lose their edge.
