So when will the Redskins Logo get back on the helmet and playing field?

I think we will see the logo on throw back uniform games, and on former player products. I do not expect to ever see the logo on the field or on normal game usage . But man it would be great being able to buy a Scarry Terry Skins jersey

I thought it was a really good interview - question - if the Black Foot Tribe came out and officially supported the Logo would folks be more open to it?

I think we will see the logo on throw back uniform games, ...

That would certainly be better than nothing, but then also, I think people would be asking ... " Why can we do it for two games, but not all 17 ? "

I am so sick of the name shit. I am so sick of the Name Nuts. I am so sick of they whiney "I'll never call them the Commanders." I am just sick of it all. Redskins is not coming back, the logo will not be in use during any game. It's so tiresome.

The plot thickens. As I read this I become more convinced that this new conversation is largely about who profits from the logo. Disappointing…

But a team spokesperson tells Perez that "[t]here’s no appetite within the Commanders’ organization to bring the former ‘R’ icon with Native American imagery back as an official team logo even as part of a rebrand.

Pretty clear. But then Florio can’t suppress his need to speculate for those all important clicks-

There might be “no appetite” now. But appetites change. Especially when, as in the case of the alumni apparel, the team is rebooting the discarded recipe.

This seems to be part of a broader effort to ease the logo back into circulation. First, it’s alumni merchandise. Then, perhaps it’s a throwback uniform. In time, who knows?
Florio can …. (The rest edited for polite society.)

Fake news Florio is a stain on human society. I wish him multiple paper cuts doused with lemon juice.

There are plenty of fans who are interested in the topic and do care for some link back to an 80-year old tradition. Might I ask, if you are sick of the discussion and the people who continue that discussion...why come to a thread discussing the topic likely filled with people who are interested in the topic?

I personally with never call them by the current name. For me, coloring that as “whiney” is a bridge too far.

My stance is not built upon the name change per se but upon the name that was selected and how.

I don't like the new name nor the branding. My stance IS mostly built on the name change, but I could have lived with it had they put more thought into maintaining some tradition. I still think there was no legitimate reason to change the name (outside of the ownership at the time). However, independent of Snyder, had a decision been made to proactive call the team the Warriors or Braves and retain their classic branding, I'd have felt like things were more or less status quo.

I came to the realization a while back a huge reason we lost this fight is because Snyder handled this situation the way a fan would handle it…by essentially stating “fuck you, we will never change it and you can use all caps.” While most of us admired that stubborn stance at the time, in hindsight it’s become clear that was the wrong approach.

A savvy business man, who could read the tea leaves, would have gotten ahead of the issue and changed the name to Warriors when he still owned the trademark back in the 2010’s. Had he done this we would all be over this by now, licked our wounds, and be rooting for the Washington Warriors with the proud Native logo we all know and love. No way this issue ever gets to where it did in 2020 if that happens. Commanders never happens. The stubbornness of him in holding on to a distracting and controversial name led us to a place where he seemed completely unreasonable and caused the opposition to simply double down on their efforts. Then the money flow starts to dry up…and here we are in 2024.

He was cornered into finally changing the name during a period of nationwide attention by his own business partners, because he was a scumbag.

He refused to pay out Fred Smith his portion of earnings during COVID, pissed him off, and Fred leveraged the FEDEX sponsorship of the stadium to knock over the first “real” dominos of the name change. Then Nike and many other brands followed and it was all over.

So yeah, Snyder didn’t plan ahead (big surprise). But it’s because he never expected to have to change the name. He brought it on himself with scummy business practices towards his own minority share owners, fellow billionaires who were able to apply pressure through their own companies.

100% his fault and his disaster.

And while I was one who spent ten years feeling like I knew the name would eventually have to change, I do not embrace Snyder’s horrendous pandering “Commanders” branding and hope for another, final rebrand in the coming years. It feels less likely the more we overperform and the more jerseys we sell, unfortunately.

Conn - exactly. I'm sure in Snyder's world view he's some victim of the PC Police, but had this been any other NFL (or business) owner it would have gone down much differently.

Commander PK - there was a time when I was younger (even before I took the prospects of a name change seriously) when I would have been OK with that. That said, if I'm being completely honest, I think I would now look back and wonder why we changed the name voluntarily. I'd probably doubt that we'd have ever *had* to change it. The chain of events that led to it changing are really quite remarkable and not something that I ever could have predicted 10-20 years ago.

Thing is not only did Dan screw over his minority partners, they knew the sexual harrassment stuff was soon coming out. So when Nike and Amazon said they were going to stop selling Redskins items, it was over. NFL wasn't going to allow corporate sponsors to leave over a name. It was always about the money, much like Dan's ownership. When Dan didn't have the money, his goose was cooked...when Nike and Amazon were out, so was the name. So because of Dan, the name "had" to change. If someone else was the owner at that time, it could have survived.

Because it's an appropriate place to vent annoyance and frustration. Did you ever get tired, annoyed, and sick of the team losing and being run like shit? But I bet you still posted about it.

Yep, any other owner in any other situation would have weathered the storm. We had the worst owner for countless reasons: he didn't know what he was doing regarding building a football organization, he mistreated and abused his employees, he sexually marginalized and exploited young women for his own perverted pleasure and financial gain, and he was useless in his role as a steward of our nearly century-old branding and tradition. Despicable.

So, are you frustrated with fans continuing to talk about it ?
Or, do you wish ownership would just shoot down the idea ?

With the name being as unpopular as it is, and with ownership not ruling out the possibility of a change, which they absolutely have not, ... some fans are going to continue to talk about it.

As far as annoyance and frustration goes…there are good people on both sides. 😉
