So when will the Redskins Logo get back on the helmet and playing field?

This thread should’ve been posted in the ‘Sons of Washington’ forum to begin with since it’s about the Washington franchise. It’s not an ‘NFC East’ topic. I am moving it there.

I know we have a lot of new folks here, but when folks who are staff try and steer you, probably good to listen. We don’t have a lot of rules, but it’s good to keep the site organized and posting stuff in the appropriate place helps with that.

There is pretty much a ‘Random’ thread in most forums (‘Random Commanders’, ‘Random NFC East’, ‘Random NFL’). If a post doesn’t fit the thread you are in, the ‘random’ thread is probably the way to go.
 
I personally think they need to put the logo outside the playing field at the corners where both teams enter their lockerrooms
I also think it should be on all gear for all prior name change items
I also think it should be on the helmet when they do throw back uniforms

I don't want it as a full time logo unless they change the name to braves or warriors or something like that. It doesn't fit with the commanders name

Yeah I have a hard time seeing the logo reappear on the field. Maybe some sort of a revised logo that incorporates it for a throwback day but not on a regular basis.

Typical Florio piece. In summation, we have no idea what they are really thinking or will do.

I think selling alumni gear with the logo and using the logo in rememberances and player celebrations may actually BE what the comment 'bring the logo back to it's rightul prominence' was referencing. Not that the team plans to go any further than that.
 
But a team spokesperson tells Perez that "[t]here’s no appetite within the Commanders’ organization to bring the former ‘R’ icon with Native American imagery back as an official team logo even as part of a rebrand.”

Pretty clear. But then Florio can’t suppress his need to speculate for those all important clicks-

There might be “no appetite” now. But appetites change. Especially when, as in the case of the alumni apparel, the team is rebooting the discarded recipe.

This seems to be part of a broader effort to ease the logo back into circulation. First, it’s alumni merchandise. Then, perhaps it’s a throwback uniform. In time, who knows?
 
I gave up on the name controversy a long time ago. Just a way to have some very angry people get in your face and challenge you on a personal level.

There is so much going on that is RIGHT on this team that I find it very difficult to be pulled back into a meaningful discussion of past issues. To me that left the building with Snyder whose move from Redskins to WFT to Commanders was in part as controversial as it was because he said two years before the change was made that the name would in fact not change.

Commanders to me is a mediocre name, and the uniforms in black and the all white are simply dreadful.

That said, it's not nearly as bad as Wizards.

The Washington NBA team is 2-18.

One of the worst organizations in pro sports.
 
I take nothing about the possibility of a name change personal…except for those who like the C name.

You're right. But it's not an 'either/or' choice. We can enjoy all of the positive changes we are experiencing AND keep pushing for a team name that isn't god-awful and that doesn't have the stink of Dan Snyder all over it.

It's easy :)
 
I won't even say the C-word. Won't buy C gear (am open to "W", since I think we should've stayed WFT instead of pissing off at least half of the fan base with a stupid name to appease a coach who didn't last).
All of the uniforms suck, I thought Tanya was a little more "fashion-forward" than the plain-ass shit seen on the field. Pants need stripes, etc.
That being said, all I wish for every year is a winning season...so I'm a happy girl right now.
 
I hate to be discriminatory but…please get rid of the yoga pants for the o-lineman and other big boys.
 
Sounds like this new stuff will be available around Christmas time. I'm going to encourage everyone here to buy at least one thing. It will be kind of cool seing new merchandise with the logo on it.


Ryan Wetzel was on Al Galdi's podcast a few days ago. Wasn't really a whole lot that was new. He said the memorial was a nice " first step ". But, he sounds bound and determined to see the team use the logo again, and says he is still in contact with the front office on " almost a weekly basis ". He claims there is still a chance for the logo to come back, and he will " not stop fighting ". Says his interactions with the front office have gone well.
I'm wondering if the new team President will have any effect on the situation.
Anyway, I suppose aside from buying the merchandise, all we can do is wait and see.

Logo and name I am cool with but I also live in this reality that we call our world. Whatever we can do to maintain our connection to our past in a positive manner has my vote. HTTR
