Having just watched it, I wonder if the 3 stars is meant to represent the 3 Super Bowls much like soccer teams have stars for the number of World Cups they've won. If so, maybe that means they stick with WFT since it's similar to Football Club in soccer parlance. Who knows?
 
So it looks like the team is scrambling to direct other web addresses to the team site like

washingtonpigtails.com


A friend of mine does web design and dug a little bit into it and it looks like that was registered TODAY. She speculates (and I have to agree with her) that it looks like they figured out washingtonadmirals was linked to the site and they're throwing names at it to try and make it seem like an honest oversight.


Then again, you can direct any domain to antoher website so there is a chance that someone on the outside did it, or it was a misdirection. Who knows lol.
 
Then I hope the f’n quidditch team trademarked it and will never relinquish their name. Zero offense meant to the NAVY guys here but what in the actual hell does this team have to do with armada’s or admirals?
 
The final 8 list was just a sampling - Wright said it was not all-inclusive so I wouldn’t go by that list.
 
Even with another losing record, this team can find new & different ways to piss off the fan base.

Whatever name or brand they go with I won’t like it because they’re no longer named REDSKINS.
 
If it’s something I deem truly stupid like Commanders, Admirals, or Armada, I just don’t know if I’m interested in continuing to be a fan.

It’s hard enough to muster ongoing enthusiasm.

I know a lot of folks mindset is that if the team is good the name doesn’t matter, but by that logic why not just find a winning team and root for them?

The name does matter to me and having jerked us off for almost 2 years, it better be a decent one - I’m kind of bereft of patience.
 
Didn't our draft day hats from 2019 have stars on them, I could be wrong, I have one at home but could be remembering a different hat.

What if it is destroyers? That is a naval ship, so there is your military connection. It has a good sports connotation. And they have been destroying our hopes and dreams for decades.
 
My daughter was born in 1989, and I gave her a name. I raised her, loved her, laughed and cried with her, forged a lifetime of memories with her. Last spring she got married, and ended up opting to change her name. Happily her new name is a strong one in my view ... but even if it had been something "less" than that, it would not have changed a single meaningful thing. Not my memories, not my feelings today, and not how I will forge my relationship with her for the rest of my life.

Every fan will have to deal with the name change based on their own feelings, but that's what's working for me.
 
Maybe they'll be the Washington Starchilds.

We can have David Bowie and Paul Stanley theme weekends, and everyone can just enjoy the sewage waterfall effects.

Here's a better analogy. Your daughter is 12 and you remarry. Your new spouse says her name reminds her of your old wife, and demands she change it. You'll have to get used to your new little angel - Mildred.

That's what this is like for me :)

lol ... except that any woman who would tell me my daughter's name reminds me of my old wife and/or demands I change would never be my wife. Or yours, methinks. :)
 
I get your position - it's logical and reasonable and if I were logical and reasonable about this it would be what I would hope to embrace. But the idea that these suits put us through 2 years of waiting and may saddle us with something really dumb - it gets my BP up. Maybe they'll surprise and go with something we can get behind. But they've yet to have an opportunity to really get something right (Wright?) and not find a way to screw it up in a major way.
