Official Game Thread - Week 4 - Commanders @ Falcons

Or they could’ve just kept Dyami Brown who has been JAX’s best receiver
I felt they did the right thing letting Dyami go. Other than a few late games last year he did little in Washington and was looking for a large contract. What they missed on was not filling the void he left which should have been a priority

If they need three days to get acclimated to la in october and a 3 hour time difference we're in big trouble.
I don’t think they “need” it, but it can’t hurt. I think it’s thoughtful that the ownership group does this for them. Not the first time.

For me, I just don’t feel the level of despair that I have felt after a loss like this before last season. There was a time where a loss like this would’ve crushed my hopes, but I just don’t feel that way anymore. Part of it is that the NFL really is a week to week league now and really you just have to be in the fight at the end and give yourself a chance to make the playoffs in December. Very few teams play championship ball from the beginning to the end of the season.

I feel like when everybody’s healthy and we’re firing on all cylinders we can play with anybody.

He probably was but he ultimately got a 1 year $10M deal from JAX.

That's kinda/sorta my mindset as well...

Good for you.

It sure as hell feels like anything that can go wrong has went wrong to this point. Terry might be a long term deal. Secondary “confusion” plagues yet another regime in Ashburn.

I understand that it’s early and September doesn’t make a season. The problem I’m having is that I just don’t see how the glaring holes can be masked or plugged.

We need more explosive plays in the passing game. Offensively, that is the main difference between last season and this season. Besides a couple of blown coverages by the Raiders, we haven't been able to consistently attack vertically. We did so last year even when there wasn't blown coverages. I am sure that J5 will soon find his rhythm when he is back, especially when Terry gets going, probably the week after. I penciled in the Falcons game as a win coming into the season so hopefully we can make up for it next week in which most will predict to be a loss coming in

The extra hard thing about this game is Atlanta ABSOLUTELY could be one of the teams we will be competing with for a playoff spot. They will have the tie-breaker. And that sucks.

I guess anything is possibie, but I highly doubt Atlanta is a playoff team. They got beat 30-0 by Carolina, they haven’t had a winning season in 8 years, and they’re nowhere near as good as Tampa in their division. I think they were ranked in the 20-25 range in the power rankings, which is probably about right.

If I actually believed Atlanta was any good then this loss wouldn’t bother me so much. It’s the fact we lost to one of the worst teams that irks me. I definitely had this as a win when I predicted us going 9-8, so I think I’m going to have to adjust down from there, which means neither of us is a playoff team, sadly.

I shudder to think what Mary is going to post when she logs back on here, terrible. At least the food at the Falcons stadium is cheap
Actually, because we were in the Delta Sky Club all food and non-alcoholic drinks were free. That was the only decent thing about this game.

They think they did with Lane. We will see if they are correct. It will take a little time.

Maybe they are maybe they aren’t a playoff team, but I think many put too much stock in that loss they had last week. They had a bad game. They have a decent defense and one of the best running backs in the league. A talented young QB. They are better than that game last week.

I think you’re going to be surprised. They lost by 3 to the bucks and then thumped the Vikings. If they had a better kicker they might have beaten the Bucs. And the Bucs are a good team.

I think the Carolina game is going to be an outlier. It happens literally every season when a pretty good team loses badly to a team they shouldn’t.

I was high on them before the season.

I think them firing the WR coach may have been a bigger lift than we first thought.

With our full offence we win that game today. However we had chances with the team we were able to field. I think that the defence for the first time this season were subpar. There was no real pressure on Penix and we clearly have some communication problems to resolve in the secondary. Mcaffrey had his best game to date. Deebo also looked good again. I thought Sinnot did well. Kicking was solid. Hopefully we get a few guys back for next week.

I don't think Lane has anything to do with this as he was not on the roster when FA took place. They either decided to just say bye bye off the bat or they chose Noah at $3M over Dyami at $10M. I would've loved to have both guys back.

It’s the answer we haven’t had since Sonny:

JD5.

If you have a top 5 QB, it can cover up literally everything else.

Now, he has to play that way.

But that’s the answer.
