I think no doubt. And some who cover the team have made the same point. and lol even Doc Walker who usually takes the side of the players (I know you aren't a fan of him). With them also questioning whether the injury also happened because the lack of camp. No way to know. But plenty are speculating maybe so.

And i know its a controversial point with some fans who are protective of Terry. And I get it. I used to be very protective of Terry.

But you can put some of that on Peters too which is show more urgency earlier on in the process. Although, I get the sense Terry and his agent wanted to push this FO to the limit time wise to see if they would buckle. And if so Peters had no shot.

But yeah it does feel like a hangover from the Terry contract did put some sting on camp. Some reporters including Bram who i know you like referenced the lack of energy of camp and cited the Terry contract might be a factor of that.

I don't think it derails the season. And probably the Terrell injury balanced out the Terry injury today considering Terrell locked down Terry last year.

Peters is sharp as a tack, but this is actually only his second year in charge as the final decision maker of an organization.

There are going to be growing pains.

Quinn rightfully gets a ton of credit for last year. And he deserves it, because he put the coaching staff together, had a good plan, and in general, they executed the plan.

That said, the coach who did the best job which DIRECTLY contributed to wins was Kliff Kingsbury, and JD5 had to be superman. And they got lucky a few times.

I don't think there is one iota of regret about the Tunsil or Deebo trades. I think there is regret about the Lattimore trade. But Peters had to do SOMETHING because they couldn't keep St. Juste and Forbes as starting CBs, so he took a shot, and it hasn't worked out.

The one thing that Peters is on notice with me is how quickly is he willing to cut his losses? Roseman is very good at cutting his losses.

I had no issue with the Lattimore deal. But I didn't love bringing him back. He could have cut ties and signed someone else in FA this off season but he didn't. It came off that Peters wanted to justify that deal. And I don't want the GM to double down on mistakes to prove a point.

I don't think there was anything Peters could have done except just fold and pay the asking price. Terry put out a ridiculous asking price. Peters said "no way in hell." Then they had to wait for Terry's camp to figure out he wasn't going to flinch in the game of chicken, then they signed a reasonable deal.

At least, if you believe the reporting.

So, eh. I don't know what more Peters could have done. He couldn't force Terry's camp to come to their senses faster.

This is on Terry. He's off my "buy when he retires" jersey list. Which now currently has no players on it.

Yeah its not a great quote from Sainristill. He basically is saying there is miscommuniation because they aren't talking to each other much on the field.

I am with you on this. That's how the reporting came off. Terry asking for somewhere near 40 million and wanted to push it as far as they could -- ask for a trade, whine, take shots at the FO and take it as deep into the off season as possible to see if the team would relent.

Yeah, I don't know they thought they had enough intel to cut ties that quickly.

But they had the cap space to actually do both: just keep him, and sign somebody else. Which they kindof did by drafting Amos. But they could have gone further and signed a more established starting quality CB and drafted Amos, and then dealt with having more players than necessary later.

They should have done the same at WR. I really think they needed a Brown replacement. That's the one area where I think they made a huge booboo. Keep Brown, fine, but get another guy also.

Peters didn't really do much from a high scale stand point to fix the secondary last year. And ditto this year, aside from the Amos pick. J. Jones is an aging CB that they got for peanuts. Will Harris has been a so so safety and they got him cheap. Their biggest move for the secondary is trading for Lattimore and doubling down on it by paying him the 18 million this season.

Otherwise, he passed on Cooper Dejean to get both Sainristill and Sinnott. And so far that doesn't look hot.

Peters has done a lot of good things. But the secondary not so much. But i do think he learns from this. Maybe it derails their SB quest this year. but i do think he regroups and fixes it for a run next year if so.

Not just that but he has a $18M cap hit this year. If we had just signed a new FA we would have had more confidence in, the year 1 cap hit would’ve been much lower and we could have possibly added more in FA.

My plan is simple this offseason. Cut Lattimore, move Mikey back outside and draft or sign a nickel. In Mikey, we have a solid outside starting CB

Or they could’ve just kept Dyami Brown who has been JAX’s best receiver
 
Sounds like he’s believing the praise that was heaped on him. I mean your nit was culprit #1and you have attitude?

We over achieved last year, but it wasn’t a mirage. Jayden is a stud! We got a lot of 4th downs, got some teams at opportune times, had some great bounces, an injured Lions team, I could go on…

But the defense was poor last year and even though we’re better up front there’s a glaring weakness in the middle wrt to pass coverage.

Wags and Luvu are not coverage linebackers, that’s where offenses will attack ALL YEAR. Doesn’t make Whitt a bad coach, Quin calling plays ain’t gonna fix it either. We’re better on the outside with Amos and Lattimore. But we don’t have the personnel yet to dominate.

The offense may be about the same, personally I think our wideouts were better last year as a unit. My expectations are tempered as another development year for my QB, but he’s hurt, so…

Have a bourbon and enjoy Sundays not under Snyder…
