I expect Penix to come back with a vengeance this game. With Harris out, who do we have cover Pitts? I think we need at least one of Lattimore or Amos and Sainristil has himself a tough matchup with London this week. Their OL might not be what they used to be either. Kaleb McGeary is out and they have a veteran backup OT startIng at RT and have a new center. They were never a great pass pro OL and, except for Matthews, none of them have a grade over 70 in pass pro except Matthews. I expect a heavy dose of Bijan and Allgeier

On their D, what to watch out for this week is the health of AJ Terrell who missed Week 3 with a hammy and may miss this week with a bye coming up in Week 5. He owned Terry last year and he has become one of the game’s best corners.

I will be at the game anybody else going?

I am irrationally terrified that ATL will hold Michael "Big Penix Energy" fully responsible for their shutout on Sunday and will bench him and start Cousins.

Cousins, of course, will be super-motivated and come up with one of his patented "350 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT" games which can temporarily convince teams that he is a viable, starter-level NFL QB.

It's interesting, looking at the stats, you wouldn't think they had gotten shut out 30-0. The worst stat is they went 5-13 on third down, and 03 on 4th down. But the Panthers went a putrid 3-11 on 3rd down, but 2/2 on 4th down.

They were -2 in the turnover department. But that's not THAT bad. They only had 3 penalties for 23 yards. They out-gained the Panthers 332-224. They had 5.7 yards per rush on 23 attempts.

They shouldn't have been shut out, it's just one of those games which seemingly got out of control.

How they view it, I dunno. But I bet Penix starts next week.

If they do bench Penix for Cousins, if we let Cousins abuse us, we deserve whatever we get. Because Cousins is no longer good. He was good. He was never as good as what the Vikings paid him. But he was good. He's no longer as good as he was.

Just heard a 'report' on 106.7 that Ian Eagle and JJ Watt will be on the call. Not sure where they are on the pecking order, but I imagine Romo is on the KC vs Bal call in the 4pm window so wonder if we'll be the top game. The rest of them look a little ugly.

I have major doubts they bench Penix. They won’t sit him due to one meltdown game. Keep in mind this GM has to be right on him or he looks like an idiot for drafting him after handing Kirk a megadeal

Seems like WR coach Ike Hilliard will be the sacrificial goat. Penix has not thrown a TD to a WR or TE this year, which is shocking considering the talent he has at those positions.

Hilliard was here under Shanny and Gruden. That receiving room stinks outside of London

You are right. I haven't followed the Falcons closely at all. I remembered that Pitt had a decent rookie year for a TE but I see that he has really underwhelmed since then now that I reviewed his stats. Their other WRs and backup TEs are certainly unimpressive. Hopefully none of them find their groove on Sunday.

If you are saying that to say “so we know Ike is good” I would probably agree. I would think Ike would not be a bad WR coach logically too.

Seems like a strange blame game. Of course Ike also is friends with their HC Morris from those days too, Raheem was our secondary coach I think under Shan.

One thing that I dislike in this universe is how good Sirianni seems to be at his job. I wish it weren’t rhe case. He seems to be good at guiding the team, maintaining a standard, and maintaining accountability. If you can do those three things you can be a really good HC. Seems like Morris is struggling there.

I think Morris already said Penix will start. Junkies hit and miss with their rumors they once in a blue moon break, last one I think they nailed was they were on before anyone else about Alex Smith's injury being serious.

While i don't know if that tweet is true. I do know Jeremy Fowler as a reporter is no clown so when he said on Sunday Daniels wasn't even close to being physically ready for the game against Vegas. I am betting there is a good chance Daniels doesn't play this Sunday.

Interesting. Officially, DQ is saying "day-to-day." I wonder what would drive them to have that lie, is it about gameplaning or is it maybe a dictum of sorts to maintain fan excitement? Or maybe both? If it is even true anyway. You've pointed out that DQ doesn't seem to value September football much (easy to see the signs of that, you've pointed it out many times!), so given that, it seems clear that if JD is even at 85% they wouldn't start him even in a divisional tilt in September. Save his best for when it matters the most. This one is against a reeling ATL, so I think their calculus is fairly clear. If JD is anything less than 95% he will likely sit.

Quinn comes off like he thinks it helps to win the war even if you lose some early battles by not taking the preseason too seriously or from what I hear camp to some extent, too. right or wrong, I don't know. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

As for Jayden, there is an advantage to make any team prepare for two quarterbacks. And from what I've heard about the injury, its lilely not a lie. You heal the way you heal. So if it heals up faster than expected, then he plays.

Grant Paulsen who broke the story initially said at the same something to the extent that the same source thought there was a good chance he misses two weeks -- but I gathered not more than that. I guess will see.

Yeah they have three studs in Bijon, Pitts and London. The only legit backup on that roster is Allgeier. Our D should be able to penetrate and produce pressure. If they can do that and control the run, it's going to limit Pitts productivity. If they can't accomplish that either of their QB's have the ability to toss the ball up for Pitts and London who are freaks. We need to chop those two down.

Offensively I hope we run right over them!

Sorry, duplicate post...

Go Commanders!

Atlanta seems relatively similar to Vegas, if JD doesn't play I see basically the same game plan going into this game.

I came to the conclusion last year that Pitts is one of those guys who doesn’t love football. Hopefully Reavo can light him up a couple times and he goes quiet after

Got not clue if PFF is on the money on Reavo, but according to them, he was atrocious in coverage but good at stopping the run
