Official Game Thread - Week 4 - Commanders @ Falcons

I didn't realize that the "Greatest Show on Turf" all came out of retirement to play for ATL today. Looks like I picked a good day to unplug from the league and spend the morning on other things.

Matt Gay was the one big positive from this game. I like our WR depth. Mariota is a capable backup, we already knew that.

Negatives - defense. There isn't one playmaker on that side.
Negative - Head coach who cannot adjust and plays scared.

It was a 3-5 second cut to Quinn on camera where he cheered and pointed at his guys on the field who scored. It happens all the time, imo you’re giving it undue attention because you rightly want Quinn to be pissed and embarrassed over the loser defense we’re fielding and the penalties and sloppy play. Or at least that’s how I’m feeling, so I get it. But it’s really not that exceptional an occurrence. There was plenty of time left and it became a 1 score game, and their 2-pt gamble paid off. I don’t expect my HC to be acting like the D is doomed to lose us the game at that point, even though it felt inevitable.

It hit me unusual. If you are cool with it fine.

I like Quinn. But i didnt care for that.

I may have misheard but it sounded like Watt said that DQ told him that the doctors cleared Jayden but the staff decided to let him have one more week off to get all the way back right.

Thanks, I missed that.

Commanders offense is good enough to be competitive even in losses. The defense is slow and reactive. No playmakers to wreck the other team's offense. I think we need to rebuilt the d through the draft. Over the hill players like Von Miller are just taking roster space. I hope I'm totally wrong, but it will take another two drafts to build a true contender.

Couple hours old at this point but Bullock clearly attributing the failures to player execution rather than coaching. Hopefully the staff doesn’t feel the same way or we’re doomed, Lattimore getting spanked in man against bigger and faster WR’s is one thing but the guys running open against zone…if you don’t think you can coach that out of your players then there’s a much larger problem and you aren’t earning your check. Impossible for it NOT to be partially a coaching problem when it’s the entire secondary all the time.

Don’t even get me started on the schematic decision to have Old Man Wagner cover athletic TE’s down the field or across the formation. Idiocy. Why exactly did you draft the young athletic coverage LB’s? Get them snaps in obvious passing situations, it can’t be worse and at least they aren’t athletically outmatched the moment the ball is snapped.

Offense did fine; we could cut Lattimore and sign Deebo and Tunsel for 3 years apiece and still have 45,000,000 of cap to spend.. My worry, we had poor defense last year so even if we ploug in a good player at cb, if our coordinator is mediocre it will not make a difference.
