Official Game Thread - Week 4 - Commanders @ Falcons

We gave Rivera shit for years for being a statue on the sideline. I’m not going to manufacture any particular feelings about Quinn showing happiness that we cut the lead to 1 score in a tough game. His job is to have and instill belief in his guys. Not worth fixating on imo, you can’t have the HC looking miserable and stoic after a TD bc his defense sucks. Our team fed on that sort of emotion last year, that’s his style
I am not fixated on it. Like many here I’ve watched a lot of football over many years. And its tough for me to recall a coach that excited over a score when they are behind let alone with the defense coming back on when they couldn’t stop anyone all game

Kind of unbelievable that after years of this with Rivera we’re STILL the “get right” defense that offenses fulfill their pie in the sky potential against. Hope AP and Quinn are embarrassed
Same here. I actually thought we had turned a corner, and were going to be better this year on D. I'm getting flashbacks of the Del Rio era!

Ugly performance that completely crushes my hope for the season. I know we have injuries, but Atlanta is the dregs of the NFL. They haven’t posted a winning record since 2017 and just came off a 30-0 loss to the worst team in football. I think it’s time to lower your expectations.

I was glad to see our kicker break his slump, finally force a turnover, and get some contribution from Luke McCaffery and Ben Sinnott, but that’s small consolation compared to the reality we are just a bad team that got lucky and overachieved last year.

I figured we would regress to the mean this year and post a 9-8 or 10-7 record. I now believe that was unduly optimistic. Hope they prove me wrong.

Yeah. Lattimore is a problem. Thank goodness we are not tied to that problem after this season.

Who is the announcer calling the Giants game who thinks he’s at a baseball game. So annoying on top of the Giants winning

It was a 3-5 second cut to Quinn on camera where he cheered and pointed at his guys on the field who scored. It happens all the time, imo you’re giving it undue attention because you rightly want Quinn to be pissed and embarrassed over the loser defense we’re fielding and the penalties and sloppy play. Or at least that’s how I’m feeling, so I get it. But it’s really not that exceptional an occurrence. There was plenty of time left and it became a 1 score game, and their 2-pt gamble paid off. I don’t expect my HC to be acting like the D is doomed to lose us the game at that point, even though it felt inevitable.

I didn't realize that the "Greatest Show on Turf" all came out of retirement to play for ATL today. Looks like I picked a good day to unplug from the league and spend the morning on other things.

Matt Gay was the one big positive from this game. I like our WR depth. Mariota is a capable backup, we already knew that.

Negatives - defense. There isn't one playmaker on that side.
I'd like to add Deebo and Luke to that list of positives on the day!
