Great Movies That Others Might Enjoy, Or Ones To Avoid

Watched Goonies for the first time yesterday. My wife and my friends got after me because I’ve never seen it. It was a great movie. I imagine the movie was epic if you were ten years old. A+

I've never seen that one either. One of my favorite hidden gems is 'Captain Fantastic'. It speaks to me.

I am really looking forward to The Final Reckoning next May. It will likely be the final installment in the Mission Impossible series. Twenty-nine years of incredible movies.

Has the MI series passed the James Bond series? I tend to think so. Bond had a great run and honestly, it is time to pack it in.

I have an action movie problem. I like them once I start one, but for some reason I'm just never inclined to seek them out. I've maybe seen one of those Mission Impossible films, ditto the John Wick movies, pretty much any action series it will be unlikely I've seen more than 1 if any.

I am weird that way.

More and more my favorite action movies are Indian films. They have everything.....silly plots, outlandish action, over-the-top heroes & villains, gorgeous women, beautiful cinematography, great sound and music---there's always a few over the top dance scenes, (which I hate in every other style of movie), that just seems to work. They're also really long.....usually ~ 3 hrs. I "discovered" them a few years ago and, for whatever reason, I'm a sucker for them. Just check your common sense at the door and escape for mindless fun. I just finished Devara yesterday while Mrs. Skinsfan was shopping. If you've never seen one....try "RRR", "Salaar", "Animal", "Bahubali", "Adiparush"

My wife doesn't like them so we rarely watch this type of movie. And to be honest if I never see another car chase scene or a scene of 2 guys with guns with one chasing the other for 15 minutes with any shots actually hitting the target despite firing a gun which apparently is capable of firing 25 rounds without a reload I'm good.

We prefer SIlence of the Lamb sort of stuff.

sotl probably my fave ever flick.

We just watched the Netflix movie Carry On.

It's supposed to be similar to Die Hard but it's in an Airport.

It's pretty much unbelievable BS, like just about any action movie I've seen recently.

Saw this recently on my flight to Germany. Thought it was pretty good:

Well, it doesn't look boring. That trailer is ALL over the place.... but looks like some fun any way.

Smile 2 was a decent horror flick

Carry-On was highly entertaining if not preposterous. Probably should not have chosen LAX and used a regional airport.

My wife and I were about to retire last night and we stumbled onto this one. A couple hours later, we were glad we didn't go to sleep.

American Fiction is a really enjoyable drama/comedy with Jeffrey Wright as a struggling writer with a mid-life crisis. Not much of a set up but this one is really enjoyable. I don't know how I missed this one as it was nominated for 2024 best picture. Wright was nominated for an Oscar but didn't win. It did win for best adapted screenplay.

Thought I would share.
