This is where I am at as well.

It could be argued that maybe they are taking a bit if a lesser player in Dotson compared to Olave/Williams for instance. However, a fairly comparable grade for Dotson, with the addition of another potential contributor in round 3 and 4 potentially makes this team better overall and more capable of competing in the division immediately in 2022. Sure, we could have walked away with Williams, but in the absence of the extra picks, does it move the needle much? One thing I do know is it sure makes for great debate. In the meantime, they just need to win to shut us all up :)
 
We could end up taking Jaquan Brisker in round 2 and have him turn out to be a better NFL safety than Hamilton. You just don’t know how things will work out.

I used the overall defensive rankings from football outsiders to build this out, I don't watch but maybe 5 total hours of college football so I'm not even remotely to the average college football fan in knowledge but these are his stats against the teams last year, Villanova is not ranked as they were outside of the top 130

What can I discern from this, it's kind of all over the place. As we know there's many factors involved in stats, weather, the QB, etc.

John Keim brought up an interesting point in regards to the return for the 11th pick in comparison to the value chart. He mentioned that with the strength and depth of the middle rounds, it ultimately meant that Washington would have had a difficult time getting more than what they received from New Orleans. I found that interesting and it certainly is something to think about.
 
102 catches for 5 reception yards against Wisconsin is pretty shitty

To this point I saw a handful of passes (including one where the QB did about everything he could do to get him killed, and he almost caught the ball against his own helmet) where the QB was simply not doing him any favors. Bad passes, pocket collapsing so he's open but doesn't get the look, whatever... A LOT of factors, and yes it feels a little scattered...
 
He probably had the worst QBing of any WR in this draft and still produced. You guys are a tough crowd.

That was a pretty good highlight tape for the OSU defensive line.
 
Phidarian Mathis is the latest reminder that when it comes to the draft, we think we know, but we really know nothing.

It is a lesson we seem to never learn year after year, fans and analysts alike.

It may also be evidence that we think this front office knows, but they don’t. Absolutely horrible pick. Terrible.

I hear what you are saying, John.

It is hard to justify how it is the best pick in that spot.

The only thing I can come up with is as we mentioned in the pods, Allen and Payne only played 70 and 76 percent of snaps respectively. There are a lot of snaps to go around and as a result, there is a need there. We don't want to hear about it because of how much we have invested in the line over the years. Yes, the problem does feel like it was self-inflicted though. We could have addressed that issue simply by retaining Settle, but do we even know if he wanted to sign here? Maybe an attempt was made? If so, does it change our perspective? These are things I am wondering about as I too try to make sense of it.

The only other thing I got is maybe we just wanted an even bigger Alabama Wall.😑

On the road so can’t dig in much, but based on a quick look at Mathis’ profiles and some YouTube’s… pretty hard to put much positive spin on that use of a 2nd round pick.

We’re a weird fucking team.
