Here is my guess from out in left field we signed Bryant to be the number 2 or 3 WR and will trade a 2nd or 3rd along with Brown or Dotson to SF for Trent and then SF will trade Aiyuk for the steelers offer

I don’t think they signed Bryant for anything other than a speculative look. He hasn’t played a game in 6 years. Unless he’s Roy Hobbs from “The Natural”, I would highly doubt he’s going to be a starter.

I think what makes that trade unlikely is just how bare the WR cupboard would be - it’s not a big strength currently.

We all wondered about the WR room. They brought in Byrd and have already moved on. Zaccheus appears to have some chops but still, beyond Terry is a lot of hopes and hopes. I imagine Bryant was brought in to compete for a roster spot. If they catch lightning in a bottle, so be it, but I don’t think it’s a move that is thought to ‘solve’ anything.

Yes, McLaurin is definitely the only proven guy that is not old. Crowder is a proven WR, but it's safe to say that his best days are behind him. Unless they make a move, I think the WR will be McLaurin and Dotson outside, McCaffrey in the slot, Brown, Crowder, and Zacchaeus as the backups. I don't know how many they will keep, but Bryant and Pringle would have to fight against returners and special teams guys to make the roster. I know Pringle is a special teams guy, so he probably has a leg up.

Of course, I'm not ruling out they still make a move either by shipping someone out or trading for someone. Dotson may still have some value in a trade, and you aren't trading McLaurin now unless you are getting a huge upgrade. None of the others WR could return a bag of balls in a trade.

My (and probably their) going in thought on the WR room was:

- Terry is very good, you can trust him.
- Dotson looked good as a rookie, we can fix him
- There probably isn't anything else salvageable, so we'll draft and sign a few guys for depth.

What has happened, it seems, as Dotson might not be fixable, at least not quickly, and Brown has stepped up to earn playing time.

But Brown isn't the #2, at least they don't want him as the #2. They want him as the #3 or #4 so they can get him matchups on 3rd and 4th CBs or safeties. But that means they need SOMEBODY else on the outside. If that's not Dotson, then they need to find somebody.

Dotson busting is a very bad development.

This WR room would currently be better (but only because of Terry) than the 2017 group which featured Ryan Grant as a starting outside WR. Ryan Grant was not good. Bruce was an idiot to think that was going to work and Jay was a fool to try and convince me Grant had more talent and a no talent ass clown.

Zacheus can play. He’s probably the #2 right now. If McCaffery pans out we will be okay especially with a strong TE group and Ekeler. But I see a WR in our next draft and probably early.

Sinnott and McCaffrey will be contributors on this team for a number of years IMO. How much we get from them in Year 1 in terms of total numbers is likely to be respectable but mid-range. 2025 should be the breakout year for Ben. The team has to find out whether Luke is a slot receiver with good size or a wide receiver who can play all over the field. Because he only played the position for 2 years in college and was a quarterback before that, he was IMO drafted with the thought he has the smarts, size and speed but will take some time.

My guess is offensive tackle and wide receiver will still be the team's top priorities in the draft in 2025. Corner is a big need too, but a quality free agent may be part of the answer there with all the cash this team has built up in its kitty.

They’re going to have to overhaul the entire secondary through the draft over the next few years also. The one guy they drafted is going to be good. The rest, all probably need to be replaced soon-ish.
