I think we're going to see a lot of the depth/PS squad guys get signed here shortly. They need to build out the 90 man roster. And they now have like 27 total players under contract.

I do think this says something about these two guys... they thought highly enough to approach them to get a deal done 3 weeks before free agency. Not saying they're going to be difference makers, but it seems to be an endorsement on some level.

It's not just signing depth. With a total in-house front office and coaching overhaul, very few positions are 'safe'. Guys who started before may either be on the chopping block, will be allowed to walk in free agency, or will have to prove they are able to perform as starters in new systems. So you are going to see a lot of guys brought in to push them, and you're going to see some younger non-starters get major chances to move up the roster ladder if they can show the new coaches something.

Yeah, I can't imagine anyone beyond McLaurin, Allen, and Payne are penciled in as starters right now. And that is as much about cap hit as it is talent performance.

Probably Robinson, because of his performance last season on a cheap rookie deal and the glowing review Lynn gave him on media day.

And maybe Cosmi because I can't see them changing out all 5 OL starters in a season.

But there won't be any sacred cows this season.

Or they're going in alphabetical order:

Allen, Kaz
Brooks, Mason

Who's a practice squad guy with a name that begins with C? If he's next, then we know the truth!!!!

(This post is a joke. It is only a joke. It is nothing but a joke.) :p

Nick Whiteside might be in trouble then.

Effective Cap Space: the cap space a team will have after signing at least 51 players and its projected rookie class to its roster.

This is going to be a very interesting conversation over the next few weeks...

I don't think Davis is worth that right now. He's not a game changer. He's only elevated his game to okay.

Dan Quinn has done some great things with LBs in Dallas. I think the confidence level that the FO has in Quinn's staff's ability to turn Davis around will factor largely into the decision. That said, Davis has been an average player at best in the NFL thus far. Can he make the leap from average to great under these new coaches? It's a big leap and a big risk if you ask me.

$14M in free agency can net you a proven starter in the league.

Linebacker to me is a lot like running back.

These are the positions where there are value players available in the middle rounds of the draft and veterans available in free agency each year that can play.

Given that I would imagine Shen's analysis would show to Peters and Co. that this money is better spent elsewhere given the position and the performance of the player.
