2024 Off-season Activity / Camp thread

from the reporting Jordan Magee looks good at LB and with Wagner/Luvu on board it may be that Davis' shot is as a designated rusher.

watching him on the field he just seemed to lack natural cover skills as a linebacker and I don't think you can coach what needs to be instinctual.

Which is a shame. When he was first drafted and they talked about his skillset or physical abilities I was hoping for a 21st Century Monte Coleman. Someone that fast, agile, and strong could have finally stopped us getting killed by tight ends and running backs in the flat.

well, I think that is one of the dangers of taking a guy at #19 that was this raw fand from a middling program like Kentucky where he only had a limited number of starts.

'Commander defense' :puke:

Let’s concentrate on seeing the team turn around and win games and not get side tracked by other issues that are out of control of both players and coaches.

Oh - we’re getting ‘side-tracked’, lol?

It is funny, I know what the name is, I changed it all over this site to reflect that, but I still can’t stand hearing coaches/players use it.

I agree with you. But evidently it’s not an issue that is going to be addressed this summer.

We probably won’t hear from Harris Group u til 2025.

Agree - if it ever is. I will eventually shut up about it once it’s addressed in way or the other.

I can't believe we're about to start camp. The last 6 weeks would have been almost unbearable due to lack of news had I not been distracted by "real life," which in my case was a new job and running my daughter's summer swim team.

Having said that, there are so many things I'm really looking forward to about this camp, more so than any in recent memory:

  • Dan Quinn has injected a new enthusiasm into the team by force of personality that has been sorely missing since, maybe Gibbs I. How does that manifest itself in possibly the hardest part of the season to maintain intensity, the grind of camp combined with scortching temperatures?
  • What offensive identity are they really going to try and build. Some are saying they're going to really try to be a run-first, bully-ball team. Others are saying it will be more Air Raid type concepts. I don't know. Probably some of both. But I'm really interested to see what they are working on in camp, and what they show in the preseason.
  • Positionally, how is the OL going to fair when they get pads on? They did some things to improve. Was it enough?
  • I'm really worried about the CBs. I'd like to see how they platoon them in and out of practices, and how that competition unfolds.
  • What rookies are going to be immediate contributors?
  • Who is the veteran who is the surprise camp cut? There's almost always one. Jamin Davis seems like the "sexy" pick by some pundits on this. I'm not so sure. We'll see.
  • How much better is the defense just with what should be competent coaching vs. the dreck Jack and Ron put out there last year, with a staff which wasn't close to professional grade.
  • Are they going to go out and sign a guy somewhere out of the blue? Or trade for one?

I'm so excited. And I just can't hide it!

I feel the same!!
I was going to bail on attending this year, but the new regime has forced my hand:yes:

I used to go to camp all the time. Never went to Richmond or to Redskins park
We went to Richmond once. We made a weekend of it, so it was fun, but as far as camp goes, we weren't crazy about the venue. It was was insanely mobbed. Fortunately, we had VIP access, which made it tolerable, but I'm glad that they move it back to Redskins park.
