2024 Off-season Activity / Camp thread

Quinn and Peters want an early look at who's going to get cut in final roster cuts or post-draft cuts. :ROFLMAO:

Early chance to start changing the culture…uh…tone.

With all the changes, they may need to sew names on the fronts of the jerseys as well as the back.

It used to be that unless you were a returning veteran you didn’t get your name on the uniform until you made the team

I believe teams that have new coaching staffs are allowed to start early

I’m curious of turnout. The non-mandatory stuff in a league where having a job is precious creates an interesting dynamic. I understand if a player is rehabbing or some other legitimate excuse (death or medical issues in the family, birth of a new child, etc)

But when a player doesn’t post “because it’s not mandatory” that always irks me. Reeks of “don’t get it” and makes me wonder if they have questionable judgement/character.

That aside - reading the responses here reminds me of the first few practices for lacrosse. We put giant masking tape on the kids helmets and write their names in sharply.

Many of these kids go to the same school as my son. It’s nuts how you learn to identify them with their helmet on, see them randomly with no helmet coming up to you “hey coach!” And you can’t figure out who’s it is 😂

We even had 2 twin boys. Their mom laughed when she saw confusion on my face over which was which. Not an issue when they had their helmets on even without the tape 😂

I would be shocked (shocked I tell you) if any player on this team opts not to attend.

One of the things that I look forward to is complacency being dispelled. So many players acted like their position was a lock and set in stone and it led to little effort in practice or on the field. There was so little hunger when it came to this team.

Yes, and I predict that it is likely the team will release or trade ONE veteran over the summer who is not buying in 100% to the new order of things.

I’m watching Jon Allen. Hopefully his days of passive-aggressiveness when things aren’t going well are over and he gets on board. If he’s not fully in, it would be smart to trade him prior to the draft.

Last year he sounded a bit like Trent Williams, a talented player who was just sick of the BS here and wanted to go somewhere where the focus was on winning.

Hopefully at 28/29 and being a bit younger than Trent Williams was when he was traded (32/33), he can see the changes and move forward with the program as a leader.

Ekeler at 28/29 is not too old to be a major contributor on offense as a pass receiving back.

Most of the critics are saying he's missed too much time to carry the load, etc. Well, that's not what IMO they brought him in here for.

Washington had players like Joe Washington and Larry Centers that made critical contributions to successful offenses over the years here at that age and older from that change of pace/third down back role.

We've seen a lot of new coaches and a lot of new quarterbacks yet this is probably the freshest start we've ever experienced. There's already been such an incredible amount of roster churn, coaching staff, front office, and everything else churn.
.
Does it feel new? I don't quite feel excited yet. I hope to get there.

I’m very excited about having significant improvement at the ownership level, the front office staff, and the coaching staff for the first time in maybe 30+ years. Not to mention that, at the present time, what appears to be a better overall roster than the past several years. (Not that that is saying much.)

Like Chris, I'm also excited because for the first time, it is a full-top-down reset. New ownership, GM, front office, coaching staff, QB, and starting the turnover of GM Ron's poor roster!
