Someone alluded to it earlier. One of the immutable truths of messageboard culture is that when things look suspect, optimistic posters get on the nerves of the pessimistic, and pessimistic posters get on the nerves of the optimistic. It's not a new dynamic. It's human nature. The difference here is, we don't allow the gap between those groups to devolve into namecalling and/or nastiness. Generally speaking, the best approach is to work on the tone and content of our own posts and try to keep some balance and reasonability in our perspectives. Somewhere between Eeyore/Chicken Little and hopeless homerism is that sweet spot :)
Man, I hope people aren’t taking offense to anything I’ve said.

One thing I try to keep in mind when posting is that we all have in real life issues and stresses every day, and sometimes that comes out when posting on topics we are passionate about.

Just for what it’s worth, no one has offended me in the least.

This is a wild world and we can get under each other’s skin easy. Just know, it’s never personal with anyone.

That said, I blame our OL for letting all of these frustrations through and frustrating us. 😆

There is a difference between a take and panic, too. We are talking in text and that can come across however your inner voice wants it to come across.

Some folks are taking things in a way too “panicky” tone when they aren’t.

As mentioned above, this is a discussion forum. Discussing why we believe something is the way it is… is kinda the point.

I don’t see an issue with any of these conversations. It’s what we’re here for.

You're not wrong, but things can get out of hand very quickly.

The difference is that same swarm of conversation spilling out across 5, 6, even 7 threads. While I totally agree there's concern with the O-Line... that conversation has turned into paragraph posts in the Free Agency thread, the Adam Peters Thread, the Offensive line thread, the Panic Mode thread, the official game threads, the Cut Down Day thread, the Training camp thread, the Joint Practice thread, the Random Commanders Thoughts thread, the 53 man roster thread, the Injury Updates thread, the Jayden Daniels Tracker thread... and the context of those conversations isn't specific to their effect on those particular thread topics. It becomes overwhelming to some where the actual conversation surrounding the primary function of that thread / topic gets lost in the wash, and no conversation is actually happening...

It’s topical. If the OL comes out gangbusters in the next game people will move on to talking about the next thing.

It was Aiyuk before, OL now, next it’ll be about Sonny Styles sack dance or something.

I see the point but this happens. All the time.

I was so tired of Aiyuk posts I just stopped coming to the forum for a month lol

Breaks are good for the soul, too.

THIS is what i am trying to avoid. I dont want ANY member to get to this point... regardless of their stance. Part of that goal is keeping topics... on topic.

We as a staff also will not tell someone, or endorse anyone telling someone, how they're supposed to be a fan, and how they're supposed to celebrate the positive, or cope with the negative.... We're all coming at this from the same starting point.. we want the team to be the best version possible. We all likely have different paths to that goal, and you're 100% correct, we're all literally here to talk about it, and we want this to be that place... just at times might take a nudge or two to keep things pointed in a certain direction.

You are doing all you can, man. All of you. Place is well run. But human nature is going to human nature. I probably needed a break.

I know people think I’m panicking here, but I couldn’t be more calm. This is how football works. I’m just not sold on the current regime as a whole and this debacle is making my belief in them lessen. But… it’s never impossible. We have JD5.

Hopefully the team gives us some positivity so we can all move on to something different soon.

I don't have any problem with your posts KDawg. I am just making general comments about all of us trying to have more balanced viewpoints and try and limit the hyperbole and overreactions. One thing I will continue to preach is that we don't tell people how to post here. Everyone has the right to express themselves as long as they do it respectfully and with an underlying friendliness. It's in our mission statement lol.

I do think since we are a 'community', we all have some degree of responsibility to not overrun threads with the same negative diatribe we've posted in multiple other threads. It is the same thing for members who want to be team cheerleaders, laud every move, and voice blind optimism. We want people to post and express themselves. I think the point many of the staff/owners are making is that it can make it hard to enjoy a football discussion community when a certain topic/perspective becomes loudly dominant. You mentioned the WR discussion - and that's also a good example.

I do want to reiterate something Primus said. People need to post in the correct thread. And the current 'why so negative?' discussion is the reason why. If I feel saturated with the negativity currently rampant about Adam Peters and our lack of a viable center, I can just avoid those threads. But when folks are posting about every topic in every thread with disregard for what the topic is supposed to be, it's impossible to avoid conversations you wish to extricate yourself from.

We barely moderate here. But for those who chronically take threads off-topic, we may start calling that out because constant reminders don't seem to be helping. Anyway, I am hijacking my own thread. Back to panicking. Or nah :)

Whether it’s good or bad, it’s never really a good idea to overreact to the preseason. So even though I’m feeling the doom and gloom as well, I went with wait and see. But it really feels like we’re gonna get the team we paid for again just like last year. Weakness at key positions and unnecessarily lacking the needed depth to overcome injuries. All this while sitting on a ton of cap space that we for whatever reason won’t spend. Sure it would be nice to get some better decisions out of our front office and certainly we need some better luck. But really, if your spending on players is bottom five you should probably expect your team to be bottom five.

For those that don’t think this season is over before it even gets started, I have to ask…

Why? And I don’t mean that facetiously.

General consensus is that this is one of the worst teams in the league.

I didn’t believe that prior to the last couple weeks, but unfortunately - the stars are now aligning with the general consensus.

Removing the Offensive line woes completely - I still have concerns. For me, I’m still not sold the defense even after the additions. Missing Owe and Amos all this time. Styles looking more like a project, than a rookie that’s going to take the league by the horns. Among other things. The scheme should certainly be better, but the horses don’t give me great confidence.

All of these things together I think warrants panic. Doesn’t mean we can’t get lucky and guys start getting healthy and things trend more positive down the line. But right now, it’s gloomy af and hard to see it any different.

Life would be boring if we always agreed on everything. While I try to be more optimistic than pessimistic, I welcome opposing views even if they are mostly "the sky is falling" type.

Am I concerned about our OL? Definitely.

Will I break out my pitchfork for AP and DQ's head if we start 0-3? Probably. I might even lead the charge.

But, we're not there yet, so I still have hope that we figure it out.

Because the script isn't written yet. It's as simple as that. I don't have some delusional 'expectation' that we're on the brink of contention, but I do make the choice to 'hope' that the moves work, because at the end of the day, I want the team to be successful, and I want to find a way that I get to enjoy success.

No, that does not mean I can't understand the concerns, but i also try to be as objective as possible, and it's not a mitigated disaster. You mentioned Oweh and Amos...

I respond to say
Chiasson
Armstrong
Chanel
Omeninu
Douglas
Robertson
Josephs
Moreau
Cross

All defensive upgrades over the guy who was in their role last year.. (Armstrong being injured). I have the confidence in more of the horses than you do (and yea that's ok).

I then look at Diggs / Chig / White as viable weapons that were added that have come in and added a level of playmaker that can change the offense.

The last thing is Jayden. I want to believe Jayden is the QB of the future, so in order to be confident in that, he's going to have to have the ability to overcome a lot. The best ones do.

The last thing is what I shared earlier. The Seahawks going into 2025 had their IOL rated as 44th (C), 79th and 91st (OG). NO, i'm not saying we're going to the Super Bowl because we have issues at IOL, but what i'm saying is that there is so much that goes into failure / success, that I don't think it's just all over. I can't do it. If it reaches the point that all hope is lost, and I truly believe we stand no chance at all, I'd probably stop watching, because I personally don't want to subject myself to something where the expectation is anger and sadness.

For some reason it wont let me attach screenshots but I was going to post pre season rankings from 2024 where we were ranked 26th, 28th and 30th.

Thats why the season isn't over yet.

It may be a month or two from now but crazier shit has happened.

background issue with site storage, it happened a few days ago, looks like it's popped back up. Boone is already sounding the alarm. Cleared up quick before, hopefully quick again.

In retrospect, I think it’s fair to say that we rode the magic carpet ride as far as it would take us in 2024. It was awesome, in fact - the best season I’ve ever experienced in my adult life. Part of what made it so great was that nobody saw it coming.

Just hard to bet on a series of outcomes like that ever again.

Primus Porcus
Prior to a few weeks ago, I was with you on buying this team and the improvements. The Tunsil injury to me though was the first reality slap, and generally things have been overall worse ever since. I’d love to believe they have an ace or 3 up their sleeve to patch this thing up - I just don’t see how.

But don’t confuse that for me preferring to be right over being dead wrong. There’s nothing more I’d love than to be proven wrong. The thought of stomaching another season like the last is uber depressing.

To me the defense should be starkly better. That alone will pay pretty big dividends if true. I think that the concern about Styles is premature at best. He deserves to at least be allowed one real game surrounded by starters before the jury deliberates his future potential.

We can only go by what we’ve seen. The little bits we’ve seen certainly aren’t enough to make any long term projection but it’s safe to say he’s not ahead of the curve either.

I totally agree im just saying its possible it could happen again and thats why the season isn't over yet.

some people are getting hope and expectations confused, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anybody in here with high expectations but some of us have refused to give up hope when there's no reason to yet, we simply haven't seen the results of what appears to be some obvious deficiencies on this team.

If that day comes we'll acknowledge it.

People keep asking whats the point of having hope, id like to flip that and ask whats the point of having no hope?

Like seriously, if you're not a masochist and thrive on pain and suffering and you are 100 percent certain (not 99) 100 percent certain this season is over and we have absolutely no hope then why not take up pickleball or something to occupy your sundays?

Legit question, im not trying to be a smart ass because I've stopped watching this team plenty when weve been unwatchable in the past but I've never once quit on them before the season started.

heisenberg

There’s always hope even for the hopeless. I think it goes without saying that I hope to be wrong. I hope Jayden Daniels is the lipstick on this pig. I want to be able to still enjoy football when it’s cold out.

But based on all that’s transpired, my expectations are very low and will not in any way be caught off guard when/if this thing goes sideways.

I get that, I used to get real high then come crashing down with anger when the team inevitably didn't live up to my lofty expectations and then I started guarding my feelings, I think we called it (staying medium) if im not mistaken.

I think im just not anywhere near as big a fan as I used to be so it has become a lot easier to keep myself grounded near the middle.

What exactly have we seen? Two series in two games surrounded by mostly non-starters? I have seen interviews with multiple teammates and Quinn that are very impressed by him to date. Is that to be overlooked and/or not taken seriously?

You don’t think it’s a tad premature, based on the small sample size so far, to list him as concerning in a Panic thread?
