I understand the desire to not throw the season away before September. But a team doesn’t show up and get its ass handed to them in a joint practice and all the sudden the lights turn on. It’s visible how bad it’s going to be on our own guys faces. They know.

I would say this is pretty accurate as far as individual players go like for example good Jones, hes highly unlikely to improve enough to look serviceable.
Theres no doubt that we need some help on the offensive line but to suggest a team cant improve drastically from training camp I'd disagree with.
There are a lot of things that can happen, we could bring in more talent either through a trade or roster cutdowns, alligreti could get healthy and the team could come together and just play better it happens all the time.

In 2024 we lost 3 in a row and it looked like the wheels were gonna fall off but then we went on an unprecedented run.

There's no doubt that things look gloomy but there's no point in crying over spilled milk when its still sitting on the counter just because you see the cat eyeballing it.

I think the answer to that is three-fold

Answer number 1) The scheme really will make a difference.
Answer number 2) We will make a late signing and get Allegretti back and the problems could be one player deep. The rest of the roster actually looks pretty good.
Answer number 3) We're cooked and it's going to be a loooooong season.

So the way I see it, we have a 2/3s chance of it working out. o_O

Open both hands.

Fill one with some kind of liquid, your choice.

Fill the other with hope.

See what fills up first.

Hope isn’t a plan. It’s desperation.

Good lord.
What?

I can’t make my position more clear:

We dropped the ball in the offseason in many places. The defense was addressed well. The coaching situation, OL and WR (up until Diggs) was not. We added Diggs and fixed our WR issue.

That’s good.

I’m not standing here shouting anyone needs to be fired.

But things are NOT okay right now up front. And anyone denying it is burying their head in the sand.

I don’t even know if we’re “doomed” but where we are isn’t good. Don’t understand how anyone who has been on this ride for as long as we have isn’t concerned or can poo poo concerns, but…

I didn’t expect greatness their year anyways. So improvement is an overall positive.

And I think we might improve.

So, it is what it is. I just don’t think we did all we could.

There's a difference between burying your head in the sand and not wanting to dwell on the negative until it sucks every last ounce of joy out of something that is supposed to bring you joy, and that includes chatting about it on message boards.

Ill have plenty of time to be pissed off about this team if they play as expected I dont need to spend the 3 months leading up to it pissed off as well.

I disagree. We call it as we see it.

That’s the point. Everyone being positive or negative makes this place useless. We’re here to discuss the team.

We’re all fans. There’s not a good way or a bad way to be a fan. Negative fans annoy positive fans. Positive fans annoy negative fans. Stay medium fans annoy both negative and positive fans.

We’re all fans. There’s not a right or a wrong way.

The blind acceptance of things we’ve done absolutely drives me nuts. But I stop and think about it, and while it drives me nuts, these forums wouldn’t be what they are without those kinds of posters and ideas.

I’m not even exhausted anymore. And the joy isn’t sucked out of it for me anymore, either. I watch because it’s what I do. I don’t expect much but I hope we get some quick improvements. And hey, who knows, maybe we go on a run.

I’ll be standing next to you cheering if we do.

I will not expect anything particularly positive until I see it on the field.

Until then, the optimistic amongst us do not annoy me. Godspeed, my brothers. :)

Well said.

Show us. Until then, understand there is going to be trepidation from many.

If you’re someone who wants to believe all will be managed and worked out - do you.

I can tell you one thing... no matter what happens, we aren't going to have members going at each other here. I said this on the podcast for the 3 of you who watched lol... no matter how you are 'posting' or 'feeling' or 'anticipating the future' right now, I guarantee you it all originates from the same place in all of us. We want our team to win. I think if we all considered that before sharpening the knives and going after each other, it would help keep the peace a little more.

I am going to push back hard on some of you. We don't KNOW what is going to happen. Some of you think you do, but you do not. Nobody does. Would I rather look like gangbusters in preseason and have all of the pundits gushing over the dominance of our OL? Yes. I would. But the absence of that doesn't mean the season is already over. It just doesn't. That's a patently ridiculous hill to die on.

I’m not only in panic mode for this season, I will take it one step further and say I am concerned about future years as well.

Daniels is the hope we have all been clinging to that can potentially stabilize this franchise for years to come. What must the guy who could potentially get beaten to a pulp every Sunday behind this line have going through his mind right now? I know there have been efforts made the last few years to stabilize the line and there has been investment in protecting Jayden - Tunsil trade, drafting Coleman, drafting Conerly, signing Biadasz. I also realize any team would have a hard time managing the loss of their starting LT and C. However, someone said (maybe Parcells) that you are what your record says you are, and right now, our OL is likely a bottom five unit in the league, even if that is circumstantial. I guess what I really want is for Jayden to have full trust and confidence that this FO can build a long term winner. That increases the likelihood of him wanting to stay here for his career. I am not sure our lack of answers along the OL right now helps in that regard.

I am concerned about that as well. Having his mother as his agent, someone who has shown a tendency to be quite aggressive in her mindset with a possible penchant for personalizing things, makes me worry even more about how committed to staying in DC Jayden will be as his rookie contract ends. It's pretty rare for highly drafted QBs who play well not to be retained by the team that drafted them. But it's not guaranteed.

I'm holding you accountable for this offensive line mess, it's all your damn fault! Wanna fight?
🤣🤣🤣

From Hogs to Hags 😪😪😪

To each their own.

I’d love to be wrong but in my mind all the signs are there that this thing is going sideways in a big way. Installing a first time OC playcaller with no actual system was going to be hard in any capacity. They are now doing it with a very thin O line against a schedule of very big boys. The reports are eerily similar to years past where they initially look good in camp and then get worked in a joint practice. All the red flags for a bad season are present.

Obviously I’d love to be wrong and watch Jayden mask his rookie OC’s learning curve and Houdini his way out of getting crushed in the pocket. It’s not out of the realm of possibility, just not likely.

Explain what exactly? You said “I can’t make my position more clear.” I said “Yeah. No shit.”

Is that really hard to understand?
Good lord.
