2011 NBA Thread

Heard this today on the radio. Got to be draft picks involved. Even then, not sure Melo and Kobe can exist with just one ball on the court at a time. Both are used to being the star, not sure how the triangle offense would work with two black holes. Kobe tends to do his thing at the end of games especially, just don't see this going well.

Then again, it would set up the Lakers exceptionally well for when Kobe enevitably starts to break down. Dude has a lot of mileage...

How bout those magic. Blake Griffin held to a career low 10 points. He disappears when he sees Dwight on the court.

Happy Trails, Jerry Sloan.

One tough player, one tough coach.

I'll miss you.

I just saw that, unreal. Absolute legend, the game will be lesser for his absence.

He just turned in his resignation, right? You guys are talking like he died or something.

Yeah, just resigned. I rooted hard for the Jazz during the Stockton and Malone days though. I love Jerry Sloan, always been one of my favorites.

Shocking news. They picked D Williams over their coach for the last 23 years.

Ray Allen passes Reggie Miller for career three-pointers with Reggie in the building doing the game for TNT.

Pretty good television. Congrats, Mr. Allen.

I just bought 15th row seats for the Magic/Hornets game tonight. I'm excited to see that new arena. Hopefully we win.

It was. No complaints. I may go to the lakers game tomorrow.

So, trying to decide between going to two NBA games this week:

1. Lakers today. Decent seats, 15 rows up center court, going for $250 a piece. I will be buying two. (probably a loss, although Magic favored by 1)

or

2. Wed night, against the Wizards. Front row, center court, right between the two benches. $250 a piece, and includes all the food and beer you can eat, and access to their best bar. Also free waiter service to your seats. (Magic favored by 16)

So, do you go to see a game against a great opponent, that you may lose, in decent seats?

Or do you go watch a blowout, with dream seats?

Heat don't look up to the task. Up to this point the Celtics are clearly the grittier team.

If Rondo could shoot from outside his shadow, at even an average NBA level, the Celtics would easily be the best team in the league.

Heat get beat by Jerome Bettis.

Celtics impose a will that the Heat apparently lack and Heat shoot three's like the Magic.

Yeah, Rondo played so well this afternoon, but they were laying off him so far the announcers even mentioned it. Celts couldn't hit a shot in the Fourth to save their lives. Ray Ray missed two open threes, Pierce looked bad, but Rondo did play well.

Didn't hurt that MIA was awful from downtown either.

Didn't expect a Celtics win with all the injuries they have, which has depleted their bench.

Rajon Rondo dominated the third quarter and was clearly the best plyer on the floor for that third quarter.

If he could consistently knock down that 15 ft jumper, he'd be the best pg in the league.

He needs to consistently knock down even a 10 ft jumper first. Or a free throw. He has a ways to go.

On the other hand, Dwight Howard is unstoppable. If he doesn't win the MVP this season, then it's a crime.

13 of 16 today, 5 of 6 from the line, and had as many points, rebounds and blocks as Gasol and Bynum combined.

Add that to the 22 points he had in the first half against Perkins--a guy who used to be able to cover him without much help, and he is now taking it to a whole new level.

ESPN is reporting that Carmelo has been traded to the Knicks, for a lot of players in return.
