NEW LIFE FOR THE "REDSKINS" LOGO? Two years after changing its team moniker from "Redskins" to "Wolves" and retiring the "Indian head" mascot, the Sandusky, Michigan Board of Education has voted to bring back the logo - if not the name - to team helmets and uniforms within its school district. While using a different color scheme, the logo is identical to that of the Washington Redskins professional football team and was used in Sandusky from 1940 until its protest-driven elimination in 2022. Two years later, there has been a change of heart. "Our [intention] is to take the Redskin head as our logo, without bringing back the name Redskins. The name will still remain the Wolves", said Robert Hassler, the board’s VP. The motion passed by a vote of 6-0, with one abstaining. In 2020, the Washington Redskins and prior owner Daniel Snyder responded to economic pressure by retiring the team's name and logo, both revered hallmarks of the franchise since 1933. While the city of Sandusky has a population of under 3,000 residents and is hardly as influential as the NFL, the change establishes precedent should new owner Josh Harris choose to further bridge the past to the future. #Redskins #Commanders #RaiseHail #HTTR #NFL
