If the people who's grandfather is the actual logo like it and are upset it's gone; why should anyone else have a say in it?

This is like the Aunt Jemima thing all over. People being offended for someone else over stuff that has nothing to do with them.

Nobody has ever been offended by this enough to matter until covid and these social justice warriors decided to make so much of a stink people just agreed out of fear of losing their jobs and livelihood.

We may not go back to Redskins, but the logo should not be any sort of issue ever. It's a real life man who sat for the picture and felt honored to be used.
Agreed.
While I fervently wish that we would go back, we should at least keep the logo.

Let me start by saying I have absolutely NO problem with the team being named 'The Warriors' and I would have been fine if that's the name the team picked when they changed it. That said, I think that going forward teams are going to avoid any and all association with Native American culture/iconography. It's easier to avoid it all together than to try and dance between the raindrops. I've never thought of 'Warriors' as a Native American term, but some people do (I think that's nuts but whatever) and coupled with a Native American logo might be enough to keep that mascot on the shelf. I know we want this to happen but in this day and age I don't think it's going to. Some people may think Harris is unclear on this but the NFL is not, and I don't think a new owner is going to want to die on that hill.
I believe the NFL is all about MONEY and if the Warriors would make them a crap load more money than any other name other than Redskins they will go for it.

I heard a good point on Galdi - that the team isn't going to be particularly focused on marketing to fans like us. They are looking at the younger and future generations of fans. So that might explain why they are less interested in conversations about the old name, logo, symbology than perhaps lifelong fans are. That doesn't mean a new name couldn't be the best option, but the point made was that 'Commanders' doesn't have the same stigma/stench for that target audience as it does for veteran fans. I actually think the insistence of a lot of us that we hold onto the whole Native American theme or retain obvious ties to the past is counterproductive. If they set that aside, and went with a name like Wolves, it would create a whole other level of possibility that sticking with some generic or Redskins-related theme doesn't allow. I'd prefer they move forward and let simple things like the B&G color scheme represent the past. Hell - put a feather somewhere on the uniform if you want. But go with something exciting and different that will excite future fans and stop trying to walk a tightrope between the past and the future that can't be walked. Setting aside how they arrived at 'Commanders', an approach which doomed it to failure from the start, I think the primary issue with the name is that no one really knows what it represents, what traits it is supposed to embody, and the challenge to develop symbols, iconography, and logos aligned around it is enormous.

In this day and age I’m surprised that Patriots hasn’t come under attack from 50% of the population.

It's early. Patience my friend :)

The thing is us old farts have money to spend the young kids don't

Money today absolutely

We can even keep the HTTR motto

Well, I hope you guys get a name you like. I'm sure it will all work out one way or another.

You sound so genuine there, too. Definitely not sarcastic AT ALL!! 😂

For the record, I was referring to Hail Raisers as a pretty good slogan--for fans--not as a team name.

Like back in the day, I was going to get a half-dozen or so guys and dress us in long, hooded, burgundy and gold robes and walk around the concourse in a solemn line, each of us holding up a sign with a different classic painting (Mona L., Starry Night, etc.) on it, and be The Art Monks.

Missed opportunities. :)

Love the Art Monks.

Part of me likes Hail Raisers, but part of me worries it sounds a little... German.

For the same reasons as much as I loved Hail to the Redskins I am not a fan of Hail to the Commanders. Strangely, Raising Hail didn't strike that nerve. I have no idea why.

I think we need to go with a nickname and logo that is more generalized and not specific to a particular era or point in time, no matter how much we may have appreciated or thought tht era helped to define the game in DC.

Back in 1992 when I went to Super Bowl 26 if someone told me we would have an owner like Snyder and the name would be changed the way it happened I would have bet things would not have gone down like that.

But here we are in 2024. New owner, new front office, new players. We need a rebrand that looks to that present and future.

I could really give a rat’s ass what Mrs. Harris thinks. Sorry not sorry.

There is nothing worse than when someone steps into an argument to give their opinion who wasn't asked and has no history of it.

Keep the PR shit on Twitter and with press releases. She is clueless and very obvious with her intent here.

I’ve been a big fan of Jason Wright being in the background and not being front and center as a team spokesman. Anytime we can get back to that, yes please…

I'm still very disappointed he wasn't let go along with Ron and that crew. I have no idea how he even has a job.
