First, I don't believe it's all Ron's fault. This wasn't a great roster when Ron got here either.
The former owner is who decided to give Ron god-like powers here with zero track record of ever doing the GM's job. So ultimate blame lies there.
Having said that, Ron made the picks and the picks have sucked. Dress it however you want to dress it, they just weren't good enough.
Davis is a 1st rounder on a PS with a bottom feeding team and he isn't there because of injury either.
Dotson has 7 catches on 12 targets for 111 yards and no TDs.

Until Cosmi came back this last Sunday, the most productive Rivera pick this season has been Chris Paul - a 7th rounder that I'd bet 90% of this board was surprised made the 53 in September.

Ron recorded a video for my kids for a charity auction I won -- super nice guy. Yeah as for Ron as for being a good dude -- A plus. He's up there with Quinn. Not the most competent and from what I heard not the hardest working dude. But in his defense, that was post cancer which I am sure took a lot out of him.

Go look at the Patriots 2020-2024 drafts. Sans Maye and Christian Gonzalez, those are a lot of trash drafts that are not meaningfully different from ours. Yet this season, they look like they are going to win more games than we did last year.
While it will take time to get to a true Super Bowl caliber roster, given we have the best QB in the conference, we should not be missing the playoffs.

Agree, I put that on coaches. but I do think they benefitted from an easy schedule last year. I know some people before the season (not Hail Raiser who is with me on this point) liked to say we don't knopw if the Chiefs are better than the Browns. The Lions are better than the Titans, etc. So they idea that this team has a hard schedule, is nonsense, its a complete wildcard. Well, it isn't. Chiefs are good. Lions are good, etc. Yeah there are always a surprise or two or three. But generally strong teams are more likely to remain strong teams etc. Not guaranteed. But more likely.
But yeah the Pats have had the gift from football heaven. Easy teams. And the projected hard teams have had killer injuries. Sheehan said on his show he so somewhere that the Pats this far have had the easiest schedule in the history of the NFL to this point.

They’re playing a last place schedule, and the AFC East as usual is a soft division. So it’s no shocker, but it does make you wonder if Maye and NE are a fraud. Certainly they’re not as good as this epically easy schedule is making them look.
For our team if the injury bug doesn’t go away soon the schedule is not gonna matter. If it does, we still have time to go on roll. Maybe our luck will change and some of the tough opponents we have to face will run into injury problems on their own. You never know which is what makes the NFL so great.

Maye definitely looks good, but must admit in the spots I’ve seen him, it looks easy for him. The eye test though says it’s not him making it look easy, there’s simply little pass rush and big windows to fit the ball into.
Of course he still has to make that stuff happen and not everybody can do that. It’s just a little smoke and mirrors to me. What’s great for him/them is that it doesn’t appear to get any harder.

As of right now I can't say we've hit on any 2024 draft pick besides JD. I haven't bashed the FO because it's too early but it would help if we were getting more out of last years 2nd and 3rd rd. picks.
Newton and Sinnot can barely get on the field, neither are starter quality so while they may not be busts which qualifies as an ok pick, I think you need more out of those 2nd and 3rd rounders.
I have no issues with any other moves, you have to take chances, we did and missed on Lattimore, it happens.

I was prepared last year to see this years results but I knew last year would set an unattainable precedent for this season.

Just want to say Newton plays about 1/3 of the snaps, Payne and Kinlaw about 50%. He's not a starter, but he actually plays a lot.
Sinnot is about the same. He's playing well as a blocker, isn't involve in the passing game.
We'll see how they continue to develop, but keep in mind, it's year 2 for both of them. We expect every draft pick to be great immediately, and that's an unrealistic expectation.
Sainsristil is the big bummer from that class this season. He had a really, really good rookie season and has regressed significantly this season.

The sky is not falling. There is hope for the season.
Practically speaking, winning the division is going to be the most likely way to get into the playoffs this year. And that's possible because they have 4 division games left, and they are currently 1-1. However, they're going to probably need some help, which they absolutely could get.
Step one: Get healthy on offense. I was bullish in the off-season the offense could be a top 5 unit, and I think they absolutely still can be if they can get Daniels, Deebo and McLaurin all to play and practice together for a period of time. That hasn't happened yet.
Step two: Probably have to win out division games. If they do that, they have at least 7 wins and a 5-1 division record with the one loss coming to the Cowboys. That means sweeping the Eagles. That will be tough, but the Eagles are not what they were last year, it's possible. IF AND ONLY IF we are playing well.
Step three: We need the Eagles and Dallas to lose a couple of other games to other teams. We're currently 3-4, Eagles are 5-2 and Dallas is 3-3-1. However, unless we run the table (unlikely), we're going to need help catching the other teams. The good news is the Eagles have some really tough opponents coming up: @Green Bay, vs. Detroit, @Dallas, vs. Chicago, @LA Chargers and @Bills are all on their schedule. They aren't going to run the table in those games, not this year.
Dallas has @Denver (today), vs Phily, vs KC, @Detroit, @Washington. The problem is they also have vs. Arizona, @LV Raiders, vs. Vikings and @Giants on their schedule.
We have @KC (Monday Night), vs. Seattle, vs. Detroit, vs. Miami (Spain), vs. Denver, vs. Dallas and Philly twice.
Dallas has the easiest path to the division at the moment, but I think any of the three teams could win it. Philly probably has the hardest upcoming schedule, followed by us, then Dallas. We have the ground to make up.
But I really trust Daniels, Kliff and Quinn to pull out a couple wins IF the offense is healthy.
I think the path the the wild card is harder. We're currently the 13th seed in the NFC. The 1-4 conference record is very not helpful. We'd have to jump at least a couple teams we've already lost to. Again, unless they run the table, wild card is just going to be really tough.
What I want to see the remainder of the season is the offense get fixed and the defense incrementally improve, and that they are in every game. No more blowouts. If they make it, they make it. If not, they don't. Then they learn from it and fix things for next season.
Progress isn't always linear.

I am watching Philly-Giants with some mixed emotions. On one hand, i want the Giants to win. We need to the Eagles to stumble. On the other hand, I am not so sure this team is better than the Giants right now.
However, Skattebo has been so key for them. And it looks like he just got a serious injury.

I think the “right now” is key because we really haven’t seen the “real” team yet. And we won’t this week because Daniels is out.
We need to get the offense all on the field at the same time and I think we’re still better. But we’re not with 1/2 of a team.
Agree on offense. though am not sure this defense is ever going to be whole. Funny watching some football today, what's running through my mind is wow other teams can actually stop drives.
Giants without Nabers and maybe Skattebo too for the rest of is brutal for them. But their defense while IMO underacheives for their talent isn't a train wreck like Washington's defense.
…..and some of us may be dead before we repeat the glory years. It’s been a horrendous dry spell of decades.
