The All Things Terry Thread

The choice really came down to whether to retain OZ vs. Noah Brown. I was in the Brown camp as I thought he was more impactful before the kidney injury which seemed to me like the kind of unprecedented bad luck thing unlikely to recur. I was wrong. OZ made important plays in the playoffs and while inconsistent grew dependable by the end of the season, but most importantly he's there. Availability trumps potential on the bench or on IR.

P.S. for what it's worth, I hadn't heard Russel say anything about Terry. My paranoia was all my own lol

I disagree. OZ signed a 1 year deal for less than $2M and he plays a different position than Noah. They could have brought him back as the guy behind Deebo.

As someone else pointed out, he probably left for the Bears due to opportunity as there was a hole at slot for them after Keenan Allen left

I'll add to some of the discussion about Terry milking this out, that's nuts. Guys like Russell floating that out there is dangerous. These stupid theories generally turn into news stories and become issues for the team and player to deal with because people are idiots. Terry also has incentives in his contract he would love to achieve. He's not sitting out to prove a point; it's costing him money as he won't have the time to reach some of the targeted incentives.

I think the idea McLaurin would purposely exaggerate an injury is dumb - sorry. He wants to play and that’s why he got a 2nd opinion.

I think he ends up on IR unfortunately.

I think not resigning Zaccheus was a poor call on Peters part. He was our 2nd best WR in 2024 and it wasn’t close.

Agree on McLaurin although I wonder about IR. Trending poorly.

Zaccheus, I understand the gamble Peters made. I won’t fault him, personally, for that gamble. In terms of value, he didn’t think the Math would work and I can see that in the preseason expectations department. Things didn’t break as expected.

My frustration is the line of thinking that goes....

The team didn't sign him quickly enough and he missed camp, so it's partially the team's fault that he's not here playing

1) Terry was under contract, and could have practiced, but was either legitimately injured (doubt it) or using it as a pretext for holding in.

2) Regardless of whether or not he practiced with the team, it's Terry's job to get in shape and stay in shape as a professional football player. If he's not doing it in practice, he should be doing it on his own time.

He's injured, it sucks, but it happens, this is not on the team.

I can't believe he's out AGAIN. He'll miss the Cowboys no less. This is on Terry for the "holdout/in" during camp. How much is he getting paid ?

I'm kidding, but can't help myself-

Also, just been in a really awful mood all day so hoping a little malicious snarking will help.

I liked OZ and was kind of disappointed that we did not resign him. Training camp crush from last year. I think he would be very helpful for us right now

We got to move on from him as soon as possible, hate to say that

It's not rational, but I think I distrust the severity of Terry's injury. Part of me can't help but think Terry is pouting and milking it. He is "punishing" the team for not signing him to the contract he wanted.

That's why he went for the second opinion, but never furnished any reports. That's why we continue to get no medical reports from the team or Terry about the nature of his injury or progress. I'm probably (I hope) wrong, but this is the aftermath of how his holdout and the way he conducted it impacted the way I view him as a fan.
I’m with you Burg. THe sooner we draft a great receiver and hopefully sign one we can move on from TM. I’m over him.
