That wouldn't surprise me.

I think Deebo is going to miss a week or two at some point to get the heel to heal. My guess is he's toughing it out until Terry is back so they're both not out at the same time.

If I had to bet, McLaurin is out this week against Dallas and then comes back for the Chiefs game and Deebo is out for the Chiefs and Seahawk games and then they're both back for the Lions.

That's a total swag, but my gut feeling.

Bram talked about it having an overhang on camp.

As for the rest of it. I think its a combination of Terry and Peters sinking the season where it collides on the same front. Not intentionally of course.

As Keim pointed out, Peters was thinking that Gallup or Osborn would emerge hence losing Dyami and Zaccehus wouldn't be felt much. He was wrong. Ditto was wrong to bank on injury prone Noah Brown to hold that Z spot let alone do it with no safety net behind him. I like Peters and think he's done a nice job, but gambled IMO and lost at WR.

As for Terry, he went all off season about how he should be treated as the outlier 30 plus year old because heck he's Terry and he doesn't miss games and production doesn't fall off -- just look at how he played in his 20s as proof to how he plays in his 30s and Peters is rude to feel otherwise. So he sits out camp -- which both hurts the chemistry of him and Jayden and the offense at large and makes him more prone to injury. And he takes shot after shot at the FO not valuing him. Pouts on the sideline in a preseason game. Doubles down after he signed the contract that he meant it when he asked for a trade. All of which kills the vibe some of the season considering he is one of the "leaders" of the team.

And in short Terry walking himself into this injury by skipping camp. And Peters botching the WR spot in the off season. The combination might be too much. It was interesting to hear Logan Paulsen being asked by Sheehan if he can get anything right now for the rest of the season, either 1. DE, 2. CB, 3. WR. Logan picked WR.

And again I like Peters you can't build Rome in a day, but Z WR is a swing and miss IMO. But he's done plenty else good so am more than happy with his work.
 
It's not rational, but I think I distrust the severity of Terry's injury. Part of me can't help but think Terry is pouting and milking it. He is "punishing" the team for not signing him to the contract he wanted.

That's why he went for the second opinion, but never furnished any reports. That's why we continue to get no medical reports from the team or Terry about the nature of his injury or progress. I'm probably (I hope) wrong, but this is the aftermath of how his holdout and the way he conducted it impacted the way I view him as a fan.

I had that same thought, sadly. If that is the case, I wonder if AP is taking any trade offers for him and we might see him on the first train outta here if a good compensation deal comes in for him.

I guess I'm nowhere near that far along in my distrust of Terry. He played to start the season, and then he got hurt and left a game.

If anything, I actually thought they underplayed the severity so he wouldn't get the criticism he's getting, which is "hold out leads to injury."

But that hasn't worked because he's still out.

Anything is possible, but I'm going to believe his injury was just more serious, or that he's not able to recover like he once was.

A little about this on the Junkies this morning…

Apparently Chris Russell has been floating this theory, that Terry is milking the injury as an FU to the FO. To be fair, they didn’t say that exactly but that’s what it sounds like he’s selling.

I am as out on Terry as the next guy. Loathed his ask and the holdout. Predicted he’d get injured. I would trade him right now if we could get a meaningful pick(s) in return.

That said, I highly doubt he’s milking the injury. I just don’t see how or why it makes any sense for him to do so. Particularly when his contract is heavily incentive laden.

I think we are all just coping with the fact that this season is setting up to be a stinker, and the lack of Terry plays a big role in that.
 
^^^That had best be a BS rumor/theory. It's not a good look for Terry even if it isn't true based on what he is doing to the teams season. He is definitely not looking like the team leader he has been for all these years. Just another selfish diva WR.

I sure hope he comes back to the Terry we all admired but every week that is becoming more of a distant memory. There is zero chance anyone is going to make a play for him
 
The counter to that would be that Terry proved during the hold out and because of his ask that he operates out of emotion and rationality. The fact that it makes no sense may make no difference. The reality is that Terry is already rich enough before he ever signed this contract to never have another money worry in his life.

So, while you are more likely right than the paranoid thought I posted, Terry milking it no longer feels farfetched or impossible to me.

I’d believe it had they not given him a deal and he was playing on the final year of his contract.

But dude is set for life and there appears to be no ill will amongst him and AP. Terry might be selfish but I don’t think he’s this level of vindictive.
 
If you've paid attention to the Chris Russel theory/rumor, literally every other single person that is in the know, who Russel or the Junkies brought it up to, has said there has been absolutely zero that Terry has shown to make them believe it and think that Russel is completely off with his theory.

Well that's great to hear, it certainly sounds far fetched compared to what we have come to know of Terry over there years.
 
The notion that Terry is punishing the team for the contract negotiations is just ludicrous. I get that as a fanbase the perception of Terry as a team player has taken a hit during the summer but this is just utter nonsense. If there was any truth to that rumour then I’m sure the team would’ve taken legal action already. He’s injured. It’s that simple.
 
I guarantee that when a "leader" of a team puts out such vocal negativity, it is hard to be as positive and excited as you would be otherwise. That almost has to be the case. Also, the data is getting more conclusive about the effects of holding out, how players just cannot match the practice/professional prep they get with the team, and what ends up happening. Hendrickson is out too.

However, I think we have to be pretty clear on a few things:
1) While some of us think there is a lot of honor in putting your name down on paper (I do too), we can maybe take a step back and realize there are plenty of people who don't. In real estate, it isn't unheard of for people to break contracts for all sorts of reasons in many situations. In some cases, the only thing holding them back is, you guessed it, what it costs. If they gauge the benefits over the costs and judge that for them, there you go.
2) Yes Terry is injured, but this team without him lost some games. I don't think the vibe cost them these games. They didn't turn the ball over 3 times because of a poor vibe in preseason if you ask me. I don't know if anyone is saying this or not, but I felt a hint of blame from some on Terry for the Ls. I agree, his presence was missing and his injury sucks - but beyond that aspect of his holdout, the team lost without him, which happens.
 
Yeah not a fan of Russel for sure and not sure why he has a following. I sure didn't expect Terry to miss the Dallas game, beyond pissed at him and his agent. But it's also foolish to go into the season so dependent on one player. I was fine letting Dyami and Zecheus walk, I figured they were easily replaced. Osborn or Gallow or someone else. That was clearly wrong thinking but I'm not a GM.
 
The choice really came down to whether to retain OZ vs. Noah Brown. I was in the Brown camp as I thought he was more impactful before the kidney injury which seemed to me like the kind of unprecedented bad luck thing unlikely to recur. I was wrong. OZ made important plays in the playoffs and while inconsistent grew dependable by the end of the season, but most importantly he's there. Availability trumps potential on the bench or on IR.

P.S. for what it's worth, I hadn't heard Russel say anything about Terry. My paranoia was all my own lol

Yep. The guy is essentially on a 2 year deal through 2026. The more time he misses, the less likely he is to see the rest of the $ on this contract
