The 2025 Draft Thread

Daniel Jeremiah and company believe this is a weak OT class overall, but I have a slightly different take. While I agree the Blue-Chip types are few, which is not out of the ordinary to me most years, what's unique about this class is IMHO there seems to be a bunch of Day 3 dudes that could greatly outperform their investment. I've watched most of this group - sure I'm missing some too and think they're all draftable prospects.

I also think Aireontae Ersery, Ozzy Trapilo or Anthony Belton would all be fantastic RT considerations for us especially Ozzy and Belton in a trade down scenario I don't see Ersery getting out of the 1st.

I think Ersery has gone a bit below the radar. I think he goes early 2nd. But he might go late first, PFF guys were brainstorming about surprise first rounders that was one of their picks. 9.89 RAS. Length is just OK, but good enough. His upper body seems a bit stiff but is a physical player with potential. Actually a different side of the coin stysitically from Josh Conerly who is more finesse and a zone blocker

6th-7th: WR, S, K?

I'm cool with that but I think the order may be

2nd: EDGE
2nd: CB or S
3rd: CB or S or RB
4th: S or RB
6th: RB or OL
7th: PK

Hail Raiser I like JJ Pegues a lot and think he will have a big impact at the next level in the NFL. I think he is be serious underrated.

It’s interesting to me that we haven’t heard anything about the Commanders and Ersery, but there’s been a lot of smoke about Belton and Conerly.

I don't know that Sanders is going QB2, but I'm betting minimum 4 QBs in the 1rst round.

I'm not buying Jeanty to the Raiders. I'm not buying NYG or Cleveland passing on QBs.

I think if Pittsburg wants a QB, they need to come way up to top 7/8 or they'll be screwed.

I can't believe they let both QBs and their RB leave. Building that team with the hubris of winning seasons.

I'd be super surprised if 4 QBs go in the 1st. IMO the only QB worth a 1st in this class is Ward. I think in most other drafts Sanders would be a 2nd rounder, Dart a 3rd, and Milroe a 4th. I know people always reach and overvalue QBs, but even that has a limit. I remember in the lead-up to the 2022 draft there were plenty of people who predicted 3-4 QBs going in the first round then as well, with the same rationale of overvaluing the position.

Could be wrong though, we'll see.

Yep. I didn't go there a lot, but I do remember playing there. For whatever reason, miniature golf has almost always been a beach thing for me.

Adding a high quality IOL would be pretty huge IMO. It’s the inverse of what Roseman was saying. Plus I’m not sold we’re going to be much better in the ground game with Cosmi out.

I’ve become emotionally invested in drafting a RB in either the first or second. Preferably the second after a modest trade down.

I just think if the defense had to respect play making ability from TWO players in the backfield, that is going to cause the rush to be more disciplined, help the OL, draw coverage up and make life easier for the outside targets.

If we don’t pick a RB early I’m going to throw a tantrum, and call Peters names and dub him a know nothing nincompoop.

I don't think 1 QB should go in the 1rst this year personally, but one will hit and if we aren't proof of the importance of the position, I don't know what to say. I mean, last year 6 in the first 12 and one got hurt and other than Caleb, the rest hit big time. 4 out of 6 hitting is nuts. Do you think if the QBs last year were available this year, that Penix still doesn't go 8 or earlier? No chance Nix lasts til 12. You need a QB more than anything.

We'll see. We have 3 elite guys in Carter, Graham and Hunter and 4 possible QBs.

I'm also not high on Hunter and I'd laugh if Sanders is QB4.

On the other hand, BOTH Dart and Milroe got invited.

I know the NFL wants to avoid a Geno Smith situation, so I would be surprised if they don't go.

Rumors are Steelers like Milroe, and don't like Dart. I don't know who exactly likes Dart but I saw sportsocracy's community mock where he went to LA to be the heir to Stafford.

So I guess I wouldn't be surprised if only 2 QBs went, but I also wouldn't be surprised if 4 went.

Hoping for 4 to go tho, to push down some really good talent.

The idea of Milroe as a first round pick is hilarious to me. There were times he didn’t look like a good SEC starting QB let alone an NFL starting QB.

Yeah, the Milroe in the 1st stuff sounds loony to me as well. Accuracy is incredibly streaky, often holds the ball for a long time if he doesn't have an immediate read open...but his legs save him there a lot, sloppy footwork which leads to sailing lots of passes, has a cannon for an arm but only has one pitching speed and not much touch, pocket presence is mediocre at best. He was also pretty terrible at passing vs SEC teams last season, throwing for 5 TDs to 10 INTs. For comparison, JD threw 27 TDs to 2 INTs vs SEC opponents in 2023.

To me he looks like a guy you take a mid round flyer on to see if he can develop with a couple of years on the bench in the NFL, not a 1st round pick.
