The 2025 Draft Thread

AP must see something in Myles Price that I can't see. What is it?
Based on what little I read - He is a good return guy, both kickoff and punt. Also is supposed to be a good route runner and has played some at both WR and RB. He caught an incredible ball at his pro day that turns heads

Regarding Simmons and ACL vs Patella tendon, I have a few thoughts. Return to play data says an ACL is more likely to shorten a career and a patella tendon to end a career. A patella tendon is also more likely to decrease performance after return.

But, a lot of that data is on run/jump athletes. Patella tendonitis is called, “jumper’s knee”, for a reason. This isn’t as evidence driven, but I think it’s less likely that a patella tendon rupture is going to affect a kick step, bend, anchor, hand play, etc. also, if Simmons is going to have a workout before the draft, then teams are going to have a pretty good idea about what kind of recovery to expect.

Also, and this is a major difference, an ACL is very likely to lead to degenerative change in a knee regardless of whether it’s reconstructed. Anyone that tears an ACL is about 5 times as likely to develop arthritis in that knee. Meaning, if Simmons makes it back from his patella tendon rupture and looks good, he should stay good. He shouldn’t be plagued by knee pain and swelling and worsening symptoms over time.

I’d be fine with Connery.he just has a peak of top 15 tackle in my eyes, which is great for the 29th pick. Simmons if he makes it back, could be a real anchor.

Mbow has 32 inch arms. I have to think they are looking at him as a guard. No?

I love Woody Marks. He has instant acceleration and is a great pass catcher. To me though, he is an Ekeler replacement, not a Brian Robinson replacement. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I just don’t think it’s what everyone has been clamoring for.

Can anyone speak to our interest in Kyle Williams? I dont understand why we’d be interested in him vs a guy with size/length, or a guy with deep speed. To me, Jaylin Noel or a Jayden Higgins would both seem to offer something that better complements what we already have, and also look like players that could be a true WR2, as Terry and Deebo age. Is it that Williams is likely to be available later?

some RB stats, I excluded Jeanty

guys on Sirius XM NFL Radio talking about Landon Jackson (DE out of Arkansas)
I heard that too--Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller on Movin' the Chains. They also said Jackson would be available in the third round--which I find highly suspect. They also said the Commanders could have gotten a let first round pick for Allen, but that wasn't enough so they just released him. Maybe take what they say with a bit of salt--like the entire salt content of the Dead Sea.

They could have gotten a first round pick, but it wasn't enough so they let him go for nothing? Mark me as dubious.

As to those meetings that Peters had I've watched some of both Mbow and Jack Nelson. Mbow is so squatty a tackle, sort of looks like bowling ball, feels more like a guard. Nelson was up and down in the game I watched, seems like maybe a servicable backup type.

lol, was listening to Finlay-Tishler both whom I like but Tishler's o line gurus tatus that other in the local media proclaim him to be is in doubt for me -- Finlay fishing for the name of the Oregon tackle in the draft on a podcast and goes i think is name is Cromwell. And Tishler goes yeah it’s Cromwell. Finlay though finally looked it up and said Conerly.
I like both of them for entertainment value.

JP sometimes gets some news.

Neither of them are qualified to analyze anything. They are purely entertainment.

Mitch also wants to tear down Tyson’s Corner Mall and put the stadium there.

They are mostly schtick. But it’s fun schtick. So I’m good with it.

I’ll gladly take both over (former team beat reporter 🤣) Craig Hoffman.

I need to rewatch the senior bowl matchups. I thought Conerly had more bad reps than the 1 awful rep against Green but maybe I'm thinking of a different guy.

My Tuten crush is growing. Could be the speedster we need. Day 3 he's definitely a target for me.

Titan would be a good get, but he doesn’t look like a long speed guy on tape. He has a track background and running the 40 is in his wheelhouse. He had a fantastic, technical start. His top mph in the 40 was lower than Treveyon Henderson, for instance. And Tuten’s tape also doesn’t look like he has that long speed.

Long speed isn’t that critical at Rb, I guess, but I’d rather have a guy like Treyveyon, that is a threat to house every screen, and is also a great pass blocker. And an explosive runner. Obviously, you could get Titan later though.

I like them too. But off their game IMO in a recent podcast. Among other things, Finlay loves crapping on how we shouldn't get jazzed about big names coming in FA and Deebo will be as good as it gets on that front and they arent spending big money on a player. Yet Keim and Breer talking about their interest in Stanley who is a 20 million plus player and them chasing Hendrickson in a trade. Seems almost like Finlay is pathological this off season enjoying saying don't get your hopes up for big names in FA. I get the idea that we can't land every big name. But IMO he's taken the point too far. They didn't land Stanley and didn't land Hendrickson but he's already proven wrong about them not chasing big names and big money contracts.

You got Tishler on that podcast saying Dyami is out of their price range, if I recall he said expecting him to get 3-4 million a year. lol, at least Finlay corrected him on that. 3-4 million? Tishler isn't paying that much attention to how FA is going thus far. Then you got the Cromwell thing for Conley. I don't mind them getting it wrong but Tishler saying yeah its Cromwell. :). Again, they are in their own orbit, especially Tishler in the moment about FA.

Having said that, yeah i like both. I like their podcast. But I was coming back from a run listening to that and my thoughts these guys were really off their game last week. But heck we all have weeks like that I gather. It's all good. :)

He's been my dark horse favorite RB for weeks. Underrated. I disagree with PFF's take on him.

He's not just some scat back who is fast. He breaks tackles. Wasn't used much in the passing game last year but was plenty the previous two seasons. Comes off from what I've seen high character.

Here's more stats. Tackles means broke tackles.

VOR's guy, Jay Gruden, was touting Skattebo in a recent podcast for this team. I've pumped him to a degree too here. I get the need for a speed back, and I lean in that direction too. Tuten would be a guy like that. I also like Harvey and Giddens who aren't quite as fast but are plenty fast. Henderson and Sampson.

But if they went with power instead, Skattebo would be that guy for me. Talk about forging a SF like identity. Teams having to deal with Skattebo and Deebo would likely be exhausted in the 4th quarter. If you recall SF throttled Philly on the road in 2023. Deebo, Juan Jennings. Aiyuk. Physicality.

I love that he hits top speed so quickly. His long speed isn't bad, but if he can hit a hole or one cut out of a block and be at top speed, that's pretty cool.
