The 2025 Draft Thread

Conerly needs development from what I’ve read as well. I’ve seen projections from end of the first to mid second for him.

If the brass decides going for Higgins makes sense, I'm with it. I trust AP. But, in a perfect world, it would be ideal if we could draft a #2 WR. For example, Houston and Minnesota. Both have clear alpha #1 WRs. And then were able to draft Tank Dell and Jordan Addison. Very good, young complimentary #2 WRs.

Based on how little Sinnott and McCaffrey played in 2024 it appears pass catchers will be on the list for the offseason.

I agree that WRs are often hard to evaluate in terms of their transition into the NFL.

That’s one reason I think you sign WR in free agency and draft for the lines on both sides of the ball.

We need a receiver that comes in and plays Day 1.

I just ran 10 sims for the draft and this was my fav of them all ---

If he makes it to us, you have to take him. He can legitimately become a high end left tackle over time. I think you could stick him at guard year 1 if you need to
Or he can be another first round bust...

I do like Conerly--but also like Mbow, Ersery, if Josh Simmons drops to us, we sprint to that podium. If we can get Mbow in the 2nd, I would love to get Walter Nolan, Kenneth Grant would be great in our run defense, I wouldn't be mad at Emeka Egbuka, James Pearce, Mike Green. The nice thing is we can be very flexible and take BPA--since we need help everywhere.

One other thing that will help us: the yearly QB reach. Ward and Sanders will be first rounders, but Jaxson Dart could push his way into the 1st, as Milroe. That will push someone of value down to us. Also, evaluations are all over the place. Such a strange draft.

A guy that is intriguing me more after the Senior Bowl is Tez Johnson. He measure 5'9 1/4" and 156 pounds, but has a 6'2" arm span, which is longer than Chris Olave. He should still be able to catch outside his frame. He cooked all of the corners at the SB, couldn't be jammed because they couldn't get hands on him. I think he's a faster Tank Dell.

The specific scenario I'm imagining here is Terry and Tee Higgins outside and Tez as a shifty man beating slot receiver underneath, that is also a threat to get deep. That would be such a talented and diverse receiving core.

If Henderson is there at #60, I think you have to take him. What he has over Sampson and Smith is weight. He weighs 215 while the other two guys weigh closer to 200 pounds. If we miss out on Henderson, I assume Sampson is gone as well and Smith becomes interesting to be in round 3 as I assume he won't be there in round 5
I prefer Sampson over anyone in this draft not named Jeanty. Henderson may have a weight advantage, but that is due to the height difference. And Henderson runs too upright. Give me Sampson and his lower center of gravity. He is the most explosive back in this draft. IMO, he is the second best back in this draft!!

Also likely to be the better value. I could see him being available to us outside the 2nd, unlike the two Ohio State backs.

I doubt that. He has been rising on most all draft boards. If he runs 4.3s in the combine/pro day, I’m not sure he even makes it to our second round pick.

Yeah . . . i'm worried about him moving up too much too. To me, he is to Jeanty as Gibbs was to Robinson in 2023.

I wonder about Jeanty--he had 830 touches in college; more than half of those just this year. Is he going to break down? Historically, running backs with that many carries and receptions do not last long.

I don't know. I think he might be a Derrick Henry, Jhamyr Gibbs typer back. He has size, power, contact balance. I was wondering how fast he really is, whether it was the level of competition or whether he really has that explosive speed.

Not going to happen, and I'm not saying a trade up to grab him would be smart, but imagine Daliels, McLaurin, Higgins, and Jeanty. Add a young TE and that's a skill position core on par with the Lions.

Higgins isn’t Peters type, I don’t think, he’s too expensive. I think it’ll be more Chris Godwin at half the cost. But other than that, I think you’re right.

In a couple of the PFF mocks I did Sampson went b4 our 2nd pick at 61.

Hampton also went to the Ravens in the first on a couple which if that happens IRL we prolly gotta strike at 61 at the latest bc I suspect the top dudes will be gone by 79.

My expectation is Jeanty (duh) Hampton Johnson Judkins Henderson and Sampson all gone by 79.

I think there's a lot of depth in running back: Devin Neal and Brashard Smith will both be available in the 3rd.

If it looks like we might have a post 6/1 shot at Myles Garrett, I might consider moving our 1st for a pick this year, and a 1st in next year's draft. It would be hard for Cleveland to pass up an offer of two 2026 1sts, I think.

I’m fairly certain they trade out of the first, given how little difference there seems to be between the bottom of the first, through the middle of the 2nd or so
