I still dont think your list is 2 years away. This offseason we could lose 2 interior lineman and I don't think anyone is going to be really concerned about the unit going forward. QB - Need. RB - I agree, we have a need there but that's not a position that requires a large investment. WR - This could be a big 'splash' either via Free Agency or the Draft depending on what we do at QB. TE - Set. O-line - I think we could enter the season with the current unit and be comfortable, but there's room for upgrade at RG with the departure of Scherff... but it's not a glaring need. Defensively I don't think any position is in need of addressing in a major way outside of MLB.

That's not a long list bud.
 
I agree. I think Taylor is a better passer and decision-maker overall. I don't know that we gain a thing bringing in a guy like Garrapolo. I'll be honest - I'm not sure ANY of the FA QBs (other than the franchise guys) is a true upgrade. I do like Minshew if the Eagles decide to move on from him. His numbers are very similar to TH's but I think he's got more upside and of course he's only 25. He's a little bigger and his arm is stronger (Minshew has a rep for a 'weak arm' but his ball speed at the combine was equal to or better than a ton of supposedly 'strong armed' QBs including guys named Hurts, Herbert, Jackson, Trubisky, Watson, Prescott... I really liked him and the Eagles did what Washington could've done, got him from the Jags for a measley 6th round pick. I'd give them a 5th rounder for him - because he has serious potential imho.

That's looking at everything in a vacuum with no other circumstances changing, I'm just not there yet, I hope and wish I'm wrong and that we can contend next year and by contend I mean WIN a playoff game, not some 6th or 7th seed fodder for the contending teams to feast on in the 1st round. Would a top 5 caliber QB make this team more competitive, yes, a top 10 QB, yes, do I think that puts us close to playing for a trophy, not yet.

That is a great comparison to Minshew. He’s had a similar level of excitement combined with mixed results. He has done more with his arm whereas Henicke’s plays are with his legs. I think that makes Minshew a better long term prospect as you have stated. But neither is probably a long term solution to get you to the next level.
 
If this team trades picks for a guy in his 30s or a mediocre guy in his late 20s then, rest assured, nothing has changed around here. I don't think the team is a QB away from being the Bengals. There is a big problem with consistency on both sides of the ball that needs to be figured out that has been a problem here for 20 years.

Washington needs to draft a guy and give the current coach enough time and trust to develop him. Building long-term success requires a commitment and a level of patience that has not ever been shown to exist here. Heinicke isn't great, but he's good enough to hold down the spot for now. Rivera isn't perfect, but if you trust him to run the team you have to trust him to pick and develop his own QB. Ideally he should have been given that opportunity to hand-pick a QB when he took the job, but that didn't happen so here we are.

I don't know about Wilson. Trading the future for someone else's great 34 year-old QB has been tried here MANY times. I guess he's better than Brunell or McNabb or Smith so this time things would be different ... sure. Let's go with that. :)

Wasn’t Sheehan the one starting the Rodgers and Adams rumors last week? Is this his new thing? Maybe we can take a guess on who the next name he will bring up?

Ryan?
Watson?
Brady?
Cousins?

It could be more fun guessing the latest rumor than actually trying to understand who could be traded for or would sign as a free agent.

I think Caroll is just covering his own ass. He’s not interested in starting over. Just trying to squeeze out another year or two.
 
Probably trying to somewhat appease Wilson so he can say ‘look, we investigated options for you but no one is willing to give us fair value in a trade…’
