Tell the Truth Monday- Tennessee Edition

While I agree he is a better RT than Wylie he is too valuable as the only backup at LT to risk starting him at RT.
I disagree with this.
You put the 5 guys out there who give you the best chance of winning and if an injury to coleman occurs you move Lucas to left tackle and put wylie back in at right tackle.
If both coleman and Lucas get hurt you would have been screwed anyway.
Can't stash better players on the bench because you're afraid they may get hurt, that's part of the game and you deal with it as it happens.

Not really a TTTM thought, but…

If the next game is Lattimore’s first since he was traded for, it will be versus the team that he was traded from. He just might know a bit about the opponent’s talent at receiver and the team’s inclinations on offense.

No Chris Olave and Taysom Hill helps.

If we can’t fence Kamara in and pull a Belichick like strategy of making the Saints go to option #2, then we deserve to lose.

Another not really a TTTM, but…

Some New Orleans defensive rankings so far this season:

Total Yards Allowed per game- 30th
Total Rushing Yards Allowed per game- 25th
Total Passing Yards Allowed per game- 29th
Total Points Allowed per game- 18th

That looks to me like a bend but don’t entirely break defense.

They have broke on a number of occasions.

Don’t forget most of this team’s positive numbers come from the first 4 or 5 games.

After that this team has been bottom 5 in a lot of categories.

Remember the Saints are largely a veteran team that was looking to compete for a playoff spot.

With that hope now dashed amid injuries and poor play the vibe isn’t good.

The coach has already been fired.

Lattimore was one of their better players under 30 and they dealt him mid season.

That has an effect whether acknowledged or not.

We need to come out and give New Orleans a reason to pack it in early.

I swear it's like coaches listen to radio folks and message board posters. All week we complained about the conservative approach, radio guys were pointing out Terry got few target and even noted that he almost always lines up on the left. On the first play all of that changed.

This is what I wanted them to do against Dallas. Come out firing and put up a double digit lead early. Had they done that the outcome could have been different.

Hard to be totally satisfied when the Titans played just so badly. But it was great to see us bounce back and to see Kliff throw intermediate passes again. I really wanted Jayden to get 3 TD passes, his TD run may have been one of his best runs of the year. When it was over I said to my wife "how'd he do that?". The short TD pass to Terry was just a great football play and I can't believe my team is making these plays now.

Luvu is a star. Sainristil is really looking good as a rookie. When Lattimore finally shows up they will have 3 impact defensive players. Can't wait for Adam to find a few more.

We had a kicking problem. Then we got amazing performances from our kickers. Now we have a kicking problem again.

Ditch the brown on brown uniform and the Harry High School helmets.
I mean, it's impossible to block out all the chatter that was going on about Terry's lack of production/targets and offense going into a shell during huge stretches of the Dallas game. Having said that, Kliff may be looking beyond this year and may have thought that if he wants to be taken seriously as a contender for an HC position, then he better show dramatic improvement. I doubt we'll have him as our OC next year, and I'm actually okay with that as of right now. Any OC worth their salt will want to come and work with Jayden Daniels. He's a lock for ROY and this week's rookie of the week, barring a Bo Nix performance for the ages tonight.

I hear what you are saying but it's just too dangerous for me. The problem is an injury to Lucas who does have a bit of an injury history in his limited play. What then? Coleman has not been durable either and if he goes down then we are left with a turnstile at LT and that's a bigger problem than Wylie starting at RT.

Since the coaching change they have given up an average of 17 ppg vs Atl, Cle, & LAR with a high of 21 and a low of 14.

I don't see why Kliff won't be back next season. I mean his offense has been good but it showed a big drop off and isn't really The Greatest Show On Turf. So I don't see hm as this hot head coaching candidate as you do.

I see him coming back for a different reason. I think he'll want to. He's done the head coaching thing and as he said he has all the money he needs. I think he finds more joy being a mad scientist than a CEO. I think being a play caller and OC is his happy place. Now, a lot of people leave their happy place for more money, greener pastures, a sense of obligation, etc., but I think he's started something here and I bet he wants to see where it will lead.

I’m targeting Green Bay as the victim to leapfrog into the 6th playoff spot.

They have @Detroit, @Seattle, New Orleans, @Minnesota, Chicago remaining with a current 1.5 game lead. That’s about the best chance we have outside of some other team completely melting down.

I agree with this, and I’ll add that if he were to consider leaving (and drew interest), I think he’ll take a page out of Quinn’s book and only go to a situation that he deems a really good one for him.

The biggest reason I hope he stays is continuity for Daniels - allowing Jayden to spend more time on the nuances of the position and learning defenses, rather than on learning a new O… presuming we change the system were Kliff to leave.

Continuity into year 2 within the same offense is huge for a young (any!) QB. I actually doubt Kingsbury gets a HC offer and that will be a good thing for us. I wasn't in love with the hire when it was made and there are still things about his approach I could live without but overall he's done an excellent job. Daniels is obviously showing his natural ability but Kingsbury is doing a great job with his development.

What will we do with
Chris Rodriguez Jr. RB50261505.8
If we cut him again, teams would be an idiot not to pick him up. Is there trade value there next year if he keeps producing?

Yeah, With BRob hobbled and Ekler out, I think Rodriguez is going to be on the roster. We currently lack a traditional third down back (IE a quick, shifty back that can catch), but we have three solid running backs.

I think cutting Forbes was in part to keep CRod on the 53 no matter what.
He's almost certainly on the 53 the rest of the year. Probable Ekeler is done for the season - that looked like a serious concussion he got and its the second he has had this season. He's had a couple of concussions previously in his time with the Chargers. His health needs to be paramount.

Robinson is better receiving than he is given credit for. He's obviously not the traditional 3rd down back type - but he will thump a backer in pass pro and can do more than catch screens.
