What a difference a week makes! Your thoughts now heading into a much needed bye bye bye?

They let Jayden be Jayden yesterday - and that made all of the difference. 9/14 on 3rd down. 5/7 in the red zone. Doubled up Tennessee on TOP. And they tried to put max pressure on Levis, that's probably the most pressure I've seen on a QB all season. 9 QB hits. 2 sacks. 3 tackles for a loss. Forced 3 fumbles and recovered two of them.

I really like Mike, but I’m a little bummed Dejuan is doing so well at Philly.

Yup, allowing Jayden to be Jayden loosens the opposition defense as they must be on their heels. He showed poise and being 25-30 is incredible.

Kingsbury gets a reprieve from the Kliff’s cliff narrative and Daniels from the cold weather one. At least for two weeks.

When they announced Newtons name at 36 I was disappointed. I have DeJean as the top ranked player and a perfect fit for our backfield.

Can't hate on Mike, he is having an incredible season and not playing in the position he was drafted to play.

Every time Washington has traded down with divisional opponents they always come out of the deal with a lesser player..they did the same thing with Dallas with them taking Demarcus Lawrence.

Or trade up with divisional opponents. 1996 we traded our 2nd and 3rd for the Cowboys late 1st and took OT Andre Johnson. He never played for the team and was cut after a year, yuck.

I'm still over the moon...what a game!! O-line held JD5 up well, defense did its job, we had a good running game and Terry was da man, as usual.
For anyone unaware, RedZone's TD montage shows them in order...and we were #1.

I LIKE THAT.

I feel like that's the first time in a few weeks that JD hasn't looked hobbled by those ribs too. He genuinely looked back to early season form.
He played great yesterday, I'll even forgive him the interception. He had the right idea, it was just a tad overthrown and then Ertz tipped it into the air.

Good return to form for the whole team.

I'm fairly sure last weeks Dallas game was a blip. In the context of losing to Philly and Pittsburgh it looked bad, but the truth is those were hard losses to very good teams. It would have been nice to win them, but I'm not sure we're quite in that class yet.
Dallas was a clusterf**k of a game. Weird things happened and we played a stinker. It happens.

I think this week was much more reflective of how this team actually is when everyone is healthy and we aren't making silly mistakes. It's also worth remembering (as has been said ad nauseum) that this is a new team, new coaches, new staff, new rookie QB etc etc. I honestly can't wait to see what we look in year 2 and year 3 etc once we have established some continuity and patched the holes. JD is only going to get more comfortable in leading the offence (and he looks damn comfortable now) and his connection with Terry and our future receiving core is only going to strengthen.

I remember watching GB games with wifey and seeing the seemingly telepathic connection Rodgers had with Adams. I think we could be seeing that kind of connection over the next couple of years as TErry finally gets to play more than a single year with the same (elite level) quarterback.

It's an exciting thought that we saw glimpses of yesterday.

I swear it's like coaches listen to radio folks and message board posters. All week we complained about the conservative approach, radio guys were pointing out Terry got few target and even noted that he almost always lines up on the left. On the first play all of that changed.

This is what I wanted them to do against Dallas. Come out firing and put up a double digit lead early. Had they done that the outcome could have been different.

Hard to be totally satisfied when the Titans played just so badly. But it was great to see us bounce back and to see Kliff throw intermediate passes again. I really wanted Jayden to get 3 TD passes, his TD run may have been one of his best runs of the year. When it was over I said to my wife "how'd he do that?". The short TD pass to Terry was just a great football play and I can't believe my team is making these plays now.

Luvu is a star. Sainristil is really looking good as a rookie. When Lattimore finally shows up they will have 3 impact defensive players. Can't wait for Adam to find a few more.

We had a kicking problem. Then we got amazing performances from our kickers. Now we have a kicking problem again.

Ditch the brown on brown uniform and the Harry High School helmets.

Except that playing so badly doesn't happen in a vacuum. The defense put enormous pressure on Levis and that was some of the best and most violent tackling we've seen all year. Getting out to a quick 2 score lead made it very hard for them to do what they wanted to do on offense, which was to run the ball down our throats with their best weapon Pollard. They had to put the game on Levis shoulders and that was not what they wanted.

The team played well overall and I'm happy but if Tennessee doesn't have all of those drops, it's a very different game. That's what concerns me about the rest of our schedule. Better teams aren't dropping that many balls where they had room to run after. I think this was a nice win going into a much needed bye and hopefully they can continue to progress to finish the season strong enough to make the playoffs. The wildcard race is going to be a battle.

I don't know if it's a very different game. We had quite a margin and basically took a quarter off. When our foot was on the pedal they couldn't stop us at all.

Titans beat Houston last week so enough of the weak opponent crap.

Washington played better against the Steelers than the no account Cowboys so in part the team itself has the capability to be as good or as mediocre as it plays.

Focus and prep were a lot better this week after the Cowboys debacle.

But so was the health. Daniels looks like his Week 4 or 5 self.

Brian Robinson came back and averaged 6 yards a carry and 103 yards.

I also think we have found a right tackle for the remainder of the season in Cornelius Lucas. He doesn’t get pushed around like Wylie did against stronger DEs.

All the good news said, I am still looking at the stat sheet after these games as we come down the stretch and we still don’t see any late season emergence from Sinnott or McCaffrey.

2 catches for 13 yards.

1 catch for 3 yards.

For #2 and #3 picks we really need to see more.

Think about how diverse this offense would be if either player had stepped up and grown during the season.

Instead they both look like Ron’s former picks, merely looking to hold onto a roster spot.

Picks that high are usually not 2-3 year projects but players that are supposed to come in and be contributors, especially on a team coming off a 4-13 season with questionable depth otherwise at WR and TE.

Honestly, the McCaffrey situation confuses me a little. If I believe the tape watchers, the rook is doing his job getting open. It's not his fault if he never gets targeted (or is it?) This makes me wonder if McCaffrey's failure to flash is a Daniels issue, a Kingsburry issue (fourth reads rarely get a ball), a practice issue (should McCaffrey have pushed Z in practice and taken his spot?), or a McCaffrey issue (he's getting open, but not in a way that makes him presentable to Daniels?)

Continuing this line of thought, there was an interesting note from the commentators yesterday that during the season, the game planners spend most of their film time studying opponents and less time studying themselves, but that the bye is a time for introspection and seeing what the team does well and poorly. If true, this might be a chance for Kingsbury to notice how he has been underutilizing McCaffrey and maybe scheme up better chances just like he did with Terry yesterday.

I think the SInnott/McCaffrey issue is more to do with their place in the progression/depth.

I suspect Sinnott is being groomed to be Ertz replacement, and Ertz has become one of Daniels fave targets this year. His safety blanket. I think they'll work Sinnott more into the game next year as they wean JD off Ertz moving forward.
McCaffrey, I've heard, is ofter running free but is buried deep in the read progression. I think they tried to bring in players like Noah Brown etc who were Vets in order to help Daniels ease into NFL life.

In some ways, maybe our run of success has stunted their growth a little as we've been running back what works well. Daniels is making hay throwing to Terry, Ertz, Noah, etc and we're a winning operation. We haven't had to delve into the latter end of the depth chart yet. But again, I think that McCaffrey is something they view as a pivotal piece moving forward.

That said, it would have been nice to see more from them at this point.

I'll start to worry next year if they STILL aren't being used as more primary pieces. It wouldn't surprise me to see a bunch of the WR corp let go in the off season. I think Dyami's days are numbered for example.
