Official Game Thread - Week 5 - TNF - vs Chicago Bears

Thank God for Apple TV which is also carrying the game. Amazon stream buffering like crazy.
Mine has been perfect but good to know about Apple. I didn’t know that.

Del Rio never learns his lesson. No pressure and no coverage. All three bombs should have been complete.

Overconfident and asleep. We stink so far.

Almost impossible for an NFL team to come out this dysfunctional and unprepared on the big stage. If there was any doubt Rivera and JDR will be former Washington coaches next year this should remove it. Embarrassing.

Yeah. I'm done. I've seen this too many times. I wasn't a fan seeing a half-lit Josh Harris laughing it up while we're getting slaughtered at home on national tv either. He did it at Buffalo and he's doing it tonight. WTF.

My flash grades:

F-

An 0-4 M*A*S*H unit embarrasses Washington at home on national tv just when they are starting to get positive media attention.

Kevin Sheehan is going to be insufferable tomorrow and deservedly so. See what happens when Thom Loverro becomes a positive voice for the team? Oy vey.

A team that hasn't won a game in almost a season and a half just beat the (blank) out of us. If Rivera or anyone on the team talks about heart and being proud of the team "coming back" I think they should be fired for cause and lose any guaranteed money.

I am not the only one who has said it... They need to clean house from top to bottom. We are going to waste the prime years of the guys we have who do want to win and who have the talent to help us get there. It's a shame the sale took so long, it would've been better if we'd been able to hire a GM and start a rebuild prior to this season. I think the fact that Josh Harris isn't even watching the game and clearly isn't concerned about what's happening currently on the field is a pretty definitive sign that none of these coaches will be here in 2024, and that this is essentially a lost season.

Firing Del Rio in season isn't going to change anything. Rivera is as big, probably even a bigger problem than JDR is. Until this org has a total house cleaning, we are never going to move forward. And games like this one will continue to happen to this poor fanbase.

Fire Ron and Del Rio tonight. Elevate Kerrigan to DC and Bienemy to HC. What do we have to lose?

More reasons to be scared:

- Bears have lost 14 straight.

- Three of their four starting DB’s are out, the other is questionable.

- Their defense has surrendered at least 25 points in each of those 14 straight losses.

- Rivera is 5-2 in night games.

We are so screwed.

Nailed it. And let's be honest... is there even one of us who at some level didn't fully envision tonight as a distinct possibility? It's what we do. And not an ownership change or anything else short of a complete organizational enema is going to change that.

So Magic just echoed me. I wish I could be proud of that in some way but I can't.

Now I have 10 days (instead of 7) to live with this taste of shit in my mouth.

This wasn't a talent problem. This was an intensity issue. An urgency issue. And a game plan issue.

Those things can't wait for halftime to adjust. Great teams adjust between series. Sometimes between plays.

Our staff is clueless.

I think the NFL has passed Ron and JDR by for sure. As an older cat, I can tell you that the fire, drive, and even ability I had in my 30's and 40's is not there anymore. I can't imagine it isn't the same for a lot of older coaches. The NFL is a brutally difficult workplace and I just don't think these two have what it takes anymore to forge a successful franchise.

But I also think we have made some critical recent roster mistakes that it's going to take a few years to repair. We have significant talent gaps at some positions and I think we need to clean house and get some decision-makers in here who can recognize where we need help and find the right players to address those areas.

We have some talented players, but I think a full rebuild from top to bottom is going to have to happen despite that.

I'm less sure about a full rebuild.

I think Belichik, Shannahan, Reid, Tomlin, and possibly a couple of other head coaches have this same roster going 4-1 or 5-0 at this point.

I'm not sure Rivera and JDR ever had what it takes, at any age, to be top coaches in this league. While they have done a great job righting the ship here, that isn't enough now.

By 'Full rebuild' I'm not referring to gutting the roster. I mean rebuild the org from top to bottom starting with a GM. There are players who likely need to be replaced, traded, cut - but there is very good talent at a lot of positions, including the most important one. But our organizational leadership is a failure from the football side of things. Gotta tear it completely down (including the front office and coaching staff) and start over imho.
