I don't think you can overstate the importance of today's game. I think most would agree, on paper, Washington is a far more talented team across the board. You are facing a rookie head coach and offensive coordinator, a very inconsistent Daniel Jones with limited weapons beyond handing off to Saquon Barkley. Giants are susceptible to the run and are only average in pass defense.
Yet we sit here with the Giants 1/2 game ahead in the standings. If we win today, we'll be a full game ahead of the Giants at 8-5. Lose and the Giants move to 8-4. Many will argue all we need to do is 'split' with the Giants and that they have a tougher finishing schedule. But Washington still has to face the Browns with Watson at QB, Dallas, and San Francisco which is a pretty tough final stretch.
Today we find out whether we've just been watching a typical Ron Rivera team bounce back or whether these guys have really learned how to assert and impose their will on an inferior opponent when they absolutely have to. Yes - the game has critical importance in terms of potential playoff ramifications, but more importantly it is a bellweather game where we find out just how good this team and these coaches are.
I truly have no idea what to expect. I hope we show up and turn an organizational corner today and win one we absolutely should win and do so convincingly.
