IMO, the real ES died a long, long time ago.

I somewhat share that sentiment, but it's also unfair. I think I want to think about ES like I do Star Wars. For me, the original Star Wars movies are Star Wars. Those first three hold a dear place in my heart and the prequels were pale imitations (that often sucked). However, to the generation that grew up with the prequels, they loved 'em. In this way, ES. evolved too. The generation that loved what it became are right to love its community and what ES gave them. We are right too to like the better Star Wars movies.

I think the new EC is likely one of Disney's lesser spinoff Star Wars series. Maybe the Boba Fett one? It could also be the Han Solo standalone movie.

(In fairness, I have never been to EC so I have no idea what I'm talking about.)

We have our own vibe and philosophy here. If folks dig it, that's awesome. If they don't, plenty of other places out there. As for ES - one can respect the passion of anyone who mourned it's loss, whether or not one thought it was Nirvana, or a toxic shithole. I think the team's 'experiment' owning a fan forum is permanently over, so regardless of what anyone thinks or feels, it really doesn't matter now.

To me, a good analogy is the JKC era vs the Snyder era.

Snyder benefited greatly from the goodwill that JKC had spent decades carefully nurturing and building. Snyder cashed in, brought nothing, gave nothing, and cashed out.

From what I remember...a lot of people said they wouldn't look for an alternative if something happened go ES.

Having ghat gap between ES and EC imo is big part as well because some folks don't know EC was made.

I found out in the ES subreddit, which is all but dead now.

They also had a outage recently...call it ptsd if you want, but I saw the traffic drop after that considerably.

Yeah it's always good to have other boards. I did notice a huge drop off after the outage which is weird to me. I too found this place on the Reddit sub and EC too I believe. Warpath is worthless, this is my #1 board for Commanders discussion.
