Hopping on board the BGO train after the ES derailment.

Warpath was the board a lot of people were suggesting as the end was nearing. I was committed to ES so I only registered and noodled around a bit. But it's dead with very few posters so I'm out. I could have dealt with Extreme Commanders if that was the only option but so happy I found this place. I was worried with the demise of message boards so thankful for BGO and all their traffic.

I have baggage and history. But this is the best Redskins/WFT/Commanders forum out there. It's the best for a lot of reasons, and fuck it - I'm going to list them for you:

1. Our staff. We have staff here who are staff because they've spent years as outstanding posters and members. They've contributed, either financially or otherwise, and they are wonderful people.

2. Our philosophy. We don't *moderate* our membership. We literally HAVE no moderators. Our membership is mostly 'self-moderated' - meaning if someone is approaching a 'line', usually our own membership reminds the member of where the lines are. Be nice. Argue - but always with respect. Talk to people like you appreciate being talked to. And it's okay to disagree, we are all fans. That is a pretty concise summary.

3. It's about the membership here, not about site owners or aggressive ego-driven mods. Our great members ... well, they make us great.

4. In an age where forums are dying and dwindling and wasting away, we are thriving. We believe in this format, we spend significant money on improving the site and user experience and yes - even advertising. We've been at this since 2009, and we are in it for the long haul.

As for other sites, it takes a lot more than slapping a former label on a site and co-opting a beloved logo (a label, btw, that the guys 'slapping' had zero to do with creating). Good luck with it. Eventually folks will figure out that what makes a site great is it's membership and the way those members are treated. I don't think there's a better representation of that than right here.

But hey, that's just me.

There are only two obvious reasons for being attracted to EC: 1) nostalgia and 2) the desire to partake in one-sided political ‘discussions’.

Other than that? Someone please list for me the benefits of spending time there.

Many of the most active ES members now seem to call this place home and their activity here has been a positive value add.

Did you experience a noticeable bump after ES shut down? I know I was never here before and I know I'm not alone but curious if it was enough new posters to notice.

I can't speak to numbers, but there definitely has been a bump in board activity (IE number of posts and new threads.) Overall, it's been remarkably smooth. There have been a number of fun reunions. Old friends finding each other again. That kind of thing.

Yes - we have had an influx of new members, some driven by the ES closure and some as a result of advertising on Al Galdi’s podcast.
I was always a fan of Galdi, just not the wrestling part. I should listen, as I recall it had a clever name.

I'll give you points for this; I'm an avid Galdi listener and after 4-5 months of not going to ES and rarely checking reddit I had to refresh myself on where people ended up and first thing that popped into my mind was BGO from the spots I've heard on his podcast

didn't even bother looking elsewhere lol

Welcome. Glad you found us.

Now fetch me a beer newbie!

I can't pretend my user account there wasnt old enough to drink by time it went down.

That was a community, too...some came here, some tried to make the site somewhere else. And I can respect that...wasn't convinced anyone cared enough to pull that off damn near by themself like SWIM, but he did and even got some of the old Mods back.

I get the no politics thing, it's reasonable considering how unreasonable it is right now. Same time that doesn't change its relevance...even if one doesn't care about politics, politics cares about them. Race is like that, too, learned that hard way as well.

Reddit has suprised me with some subreddits where people actually start dropping sources to make their point or can accept being wrong about something. I was used to that on Extemeskins...I had stopped looking for it elsewhere...

Renegade7 I'm glad that it is gone. This place is so much better and we have the bulk of the former community here. It's about the people and their input regarding our football team...above and beyond politics and mods personal thoughts. I think the old site lost their vision and did not adapt accordingly.

I am glad it got fragged

ES remains the busiest message board I've been on. I miss that. EC is sadly a dead zone, not sure why an outage would chase away so many people.

From what I remember...a lot of people said they wouldn't look for an alternative if something happened go ES.

Having ghat gap between ES and EC imo is big part as well because some folks don't know EC was made.

I found out in the ES subreddit, which is all but dead now.

They also had a outage recently...call it ptsd if you want, but I saw the traffic drop after that considerably.

That is that site, and this is this site...
