We have NO idea who this team plans to draft. They may just go crazy and go BPA. That's what rebuilding teams do, right?

Hell, that's what most teams do anyway. Seriously, when was the last time this team drafted the way anyone expected them to? How many heads are going to explode if we sign Jackson and then draft a WR in the second round?

Lol Henry.....and no Henry and Boone, I don't believe any WR we can get at 34 is a sure thing. Which makes signing Douche-an even more palatable.

Think of this for a second: Desean's signed. No more WRs. Other teams fight for WRs in the draft, and then we just crush on RT who may have fallen too far. And then we just hammer starters in rounds three and four also.....

Huge. It could be huge.

Without London around to knock some sense into him, who is going to step up and settle him down and restore order? Griff? I don't get the feeling he has complete control of the locker room yet.

I'm just not convinced we have the leadership or winning culture (as clichéd as both of those things sound) to withstand a douchebag as big as this clown. He will, imo, inevitably, start whining about something, and I'm not sure we have the leadership necessary to shut it down yet.

There's much uncertainty in drafting a WR too.
Especially with our history.
How many times, have we patiently waited 3 years for a drafted WR to develop his "potential", only to find out that both the draft pick, and the 3 years of waiting, were a waste.

You're absolutely right.

I guess the difference is this has clear warning signs that any idiot walking down the street can easily find out about and say - hey, the smarter bet is to pass.

Drafting a guy, well that's a science that people put years of work into to be good at it and still mess up.

Screwing up due diligence on Jackson is significantly less acceptable than a bad draft pick.

But that's just how I feel today. When they botch draft pick later this month I'll throw a fit

I don't disagree that, purely from a talent perspective, Jackson would be a HUGE pickup. Nor do I disagree that the draft takes on a whole new meaning if we secure a star #2 WR now. But it may not happen, and if it doesn't, we'll be fine. Even if it does, as others suggest, it may not go the way we want it to. A lot remains to be seen.

We'll I'm hoping guys like Ryan Clark, Santana (although I don't believe he'll be on the roster) or Hatcher will step up. Ditto for our HC. Players enjoy playing for him.

they draft LB
then they draft a RB
then they draft another RB
then they draft another LB
then they draft a TE
then another round they MIGHT draft an O-lineman, but he was rated 4 ROUNDS BELOW WHERE WE DRAFTED HIM
and so on, and so on.....

“First off, Jay’s an excellent coach,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said this week in Orlando. “It’s a West Coast offense. I think the Grudens have their own patent on their own version of the West Coast offense because they built it so well. But it’s based on running the ball effectively. They’re very physical up front, and three-step, controlled passing. The ball comes out quickly and it’s really hard to get to the quarterback. It’s based on probably a quick read and the ball’s out quick.

“It’s a lot of the classic West Coast principles,” Harbaugh continued. “And the thing that always strikes me, that I was always impressed with what Jay did in Cincinnati was the fundamentals were so well executed. I mean, they’re really fundamentally sound. You watch them in pregame and every one of their nine-routes is caught 42 yards, 4 yards from the sideline, which is kind of the textbook way of teaching that route. Every single guy caught the ball at that spot, so to me, that’s the sign of a good coach.”

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin agreed with Harbaugh’s assessment.

I haven't seen anything that suggests it's close to being a deal from anyone with any credibility. Doesn't mean it won't happen, but mostly just fans urging the team to make it happen and media folks saying 'no news'.
