Dan Snyder - Fugitive?

Here’s what I thought was interesting:

They listed their Potomac estate for a whopping $49m 😳. No buyers.

They drop the ask price to $35m. No buyers.

They donate it, and the American Cancer Society tries to sell it for $29.9m. Still no buyers.

Then, we find out that they’re going to get a tax write off of $18.5m based off the appraised value.

As in all things he did, he tried to over-inflate the value of something he owned (from a list price of $49m to a tax-write off $18.5m) to screw people over and to make himself look like the smartest person in the room, and, as always, it backfired on him. 🤣

Yeah most people would at least entertain venturing down that path, but Dan Snyder is a dye-in-the-wool narcissist. Those kind of people have no capacity for introspection, or self-reflection, or dignity, or class, etc. That's why it was absolutely no surprise to me when I read in that article that Dan is basically in denial and can't accept any blame for what led to him having to sell.

Which is par for the course. Dan has always been seemingly incapable of realizing that he could be even partially at fault for the bad things that happen to and around him. Everything was always everyone else's fault.

He has also pretty consistently played the victim when bullying people didn't work. Narcissists really only have two modes of interacting with the world: being (loudly) the smartest person in the room, or being the world's biggest victim when the first fails.

That is what fascinates me about the man. Personally, I am somewhat conversant in football. I know what is going on, sort of. Were I to own a team, I would never think to dictate much of anything. HIre good people and let them do it. Yet Snyder just kept doubling down through the decades, never ascending the learning curve.
