C-A-P-S

My guess is that there is an emotional let down. Probably the team was fighting as hard as they could to get Ovi the record. When they did it there was a weeklong Super Bowl party. Heck, coaches were talking about how players would tell their grandkids about being part of the goal scoring record moment. So with the goal accomplished, the players lost their edge. They relaxed. Locking the number one seed probably hurt their hunger too. I doubt they are consciously doing it, but I can imagine it does feel like it'd be easy to take a victory lap right now. The queston is, how long will it take to build the fire back up.

I suspect not long.

And I read that Ovi took a well-deserved break yesterday, too.

Caps are reeling into the playoffs…not good. Will not be surprised to see them bounced out in round 1.

Biggest issue has been defensive effort, I expected we might coast a little towards the end of the season to refresh a bit. Hopefully it's just that and not deflation emotionally before the playoffs.

Finally got my DirectTV streaming service up, got Monumental Network...can't wait to watch the game tonight!!!

Now it's saying that the service provider has restricted access to this program and there's no other channels to view it.

Aww, hell no...

On MSN now "Alex Ovexhkin, Drive to 895"
They're showing every goal that he's scored along with with some really cool interviews and stories from team mates coaches, players, announcers.
Some of those old interviews with a young Ovi are gold!
Edit: This episode is part 1 of the series

Great finish tonight. They really turtled the last half of the 3rd period to lose that lead. I’m glad that they came out in OT with the same fire they had the first 50 minutes.

Vintage Ovechkin tonight. Two goals and an assist. He was also more physical than I’ve seen him in while. He led all players with 7 hits.

By the way, Ovechkin now has 11 game winning playoff goals, but this was his first ever in OT. Quite the anomaly in his goal number.

I was so pissed that game went to overtime after being in control all night I'm watching the replay of the OT goal now. They show the crowd as the players do the group hug and 3 people in Caps gear are already walking up the stairs headed for the exit. They must have gotten up from their seat and headed towards the aisle 2 seconds after the goal. What is the point of going to the trouble and expense of a playoff game if you can't even enjoy an overtime game winner?

Same! I can kinda/sorta understand people leaving early. At least they stayed. I've seen people head for the exits before games are over. If the folks who left early have a long ride home, they'll have plenty of time to enjoy it on the Metro and in their cars or at work the next day. That said....we would've stayed!

It could have been just a work night/school night thing. It's not always easy to burn the midnight oil on a Monday.

I turned down tickets for Wednesdays game for that reason. That's the same reason the guy who offered the tickets is/was selling them...

Did Beau bounce pass it to himself there first? Or was it off the MTL stick
I didn't see the right angle last night, shot at the goal bounced to the wall, he corralled it then either put it on goal and it went to Ovie or pass to Ovie that O redirected from air straight in.

Even though they turtled in the third and shouldn't have, they came out in OT with the deserved energy advantage that they SHOULD have, and the icing right before the goal helped of course. Took advantage when they needed to. Hopefully though, won't make that mistake again.

In the words of Mr. Miyagi, "Must not lose to FEAR!"
