How shitty would it be if he didn't break the record and they shelled out those duckets...
 
I get the thought of hoping it's at home against Carolina. But the home crowd got to watch the goal that tied, in a way I am curious to see how visiting fans react. Hockey is the best sport as far as recognition of the opponent, we saw that when Ovi got the team back out to shake the hand of Fleury. I expect a similar reaction from the Islanders and their fans if it happens today.
 
The game will be stopped for a 10 minute ceremony when the record is broken. Although the organization will schedule a celebration at home on Thursday, I would greatly prefer that the leagues celebration take place at home with Gretzky in attendance.
 
Max will have coverage today with an isolated camera on Alex. It’s called the Ovicast.

I missed Mark McGuire's 62 home run because I was making a drink for the big at bat and he hit the first pitch, I saw it but from my kitchen.

Today the wife had to use the bathroom so I paused the game and played with the dog. When she came back I said go ahead and start it as I came in from the deck. She hit the power button and not the button to start it back up right when Ovi scored the historic goal. I may never speak to her again.
 
Yikes, that is rough. I forgot to set the game to record on Wednesday when I went to the game in Raleigh. I always go back to watch plays I wanted to see a replay. I got home and realized I didn’t have it. That’s never fun.

Yeah, they are in a slump. Time to get going again. Maybe the chase was weighing on the rest of the team trying to get him goals, but what about the other three lines that he’s not on? They need to step up and play better as well.

They welcome Carolina tomorrow who has lost 3 in a row after acting like they owned the Caps in their last game. Which they did dominate so that is to their credit. But I expect a much better effort from the Caps and also some retribution for that clown that almost ended McMichael’s career with the dirty takedown.
 
Oh, I expect Chatfield to get a heavy dose of Tom Wilson tomorrow night.

Slump has been mainly defensive. Mistakes by defenseman, and sketchy goaltending has plagued the Caps for the past few weeks. They’ve scored goals in most games, but are giving them up at a much higher rate than before the all-star break. Time to tighten up.
 
What is the injury status of Thompson? And why does the NHL give no information on injuries other than "lower body injury " or whatever?
 
I've been moving, haven't had anything "media" since last Saturday other than my phone. I missed everything, the Ovi record, the Final Four (and the Duke meltdown 🤮) ...everything. It's been brutal. I was almost screaming at the DirectTV dude yesterday. "Just get me hooked up!"
I got the sports package at a discount with the first month free. 😄

Just like the NFL and most sports, the coaches only report what they have to - the NHL is fine with that designation, so the team / coach goes with it. That's my understanding. They obviously know the details but don't feel a need to share.
