Exactly. I don't like Jim Irsay but look at what he has done.
He realized in 1998 and 2011 that he had one of the worst teams in the league and intentionally traded players and TANKED to get the #1 pick and go on to select Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.
He didn't have to give up any compensation to get pro bowl/all-pro caliber passers.
The only real trade up I can recall that worked out big time for the trading team is Denver with John Elway.
The Colts in 1983 received a lot of compensation but Elway turned out be one of the best players in NFL history.
