That assumes there are CBs that would represent upgrades available - and not sure that’s the case. The only reason we are talking in season WR trades is because teams are shopping them.

The offense is good - but we also talked about WRs not making plays last night. We lack talent behind Mclaurin and that’s part of the problem.

I’m like you though, totally defer to AP on whether trying to get someone like Higgins is a smart move or not.
 
Honestly, I'll be a little surprised if Peters makes an in-season move this year that reduces our draft capital in 2025. Not shocked, mind you, but a little surprised.

And I only threw out the CB idea because it think its the fastest way to potentially uplevel the whole org at this point.

But I agree, you can only buy what's on the shelf and right now I'm not seeing any CBs.
 
I agree it’s likely they stand pat. We’ve heard from a lot of people who believe AP is very much a ‘build through the draft’ guy. So I expect them to stockpile picks and use them.
 
I wonder if the Cleveland Browns will consider a fire sale. They look like a team ready to fall apart. They probably have some defensive players who would represent an upgrade. Not talking Myles Garrett, but maybe a DT, CB, or maybe even a LB/DE.

Teams are talking about unloading wide receivers that make a lot of money and are vocal distractions such as Adams or Cooper.

Those are the headliners.

But heading into the trade deadline I am looking at younger, more unheralded players that have upside that MAY be available based on where these teams are in the standings and the likelihood that the current coaching staffs and/or front offices may be on the way out.

Cleveland is perhaps the best example but they are a heavily veteran team and again I am not looking to take on major salary for a guy that is 30 or 31 years old.

I am sure Peters and Co. aren't either.

A younger corner I was reviewing the numbers on is Montaric Brown of the Jaguars. A former #7 pick in 2022, he has quickly ascended to getting on the field in a regular role and while still 24 years old rates out at 71 at PFF over the first quarter plus of the season.

He's on a bad defense and a bad team but is a rising player that could come here and start.

The cost? I don't know where the Jaguars are now. There have been rumors Pederson could be fired during the season based on recent results.

At the deadline, I am wondering if we could get this player for a draft pick?

I like the idea of getting a player that is just a bit older than a current year draft pick but one that has already shown that he can play at this level.
 
With Zaccheaus having shown he can return punts and no real role for him in the regular offense at this point I wonder if we should be moving on from Jamison Crowder at 31 and bringing in other younger players such as this to get a look at.
 
Is Jamin Davis still alive?

Or is he in the 'former Commanders #1 picks' sin bin with Emmanuel Forbes?

I suppose this answers my question from above about whether Jamin Davis was still alive :LOL:

Quinn and Peters were in the process of putting a line through his name on the roster and asking him for his playbook.
 
I bet Peters did try to find a trading partner before the cut, but just found no suitors. In the end, Jamin Davis wasn't worth a ham sandwich on the open market.

I do expect him to get signed to someone's practice squad. After all, as Bulldog and others have said, he does have the measureables and last year he certainly did look serviceable. So, he's worth a no risk roll of the dice. I wonder if this is an issue of his inability to master the playbook and communicate. We have heard Quinn and Witt harp on communication a lot in their pressers about the D in general. No matter the reason, as I said before, I think this cut is a culture statement and a wake up call to any who think they can get away with loafing or coasting as so many did under Rivera and much of Snyder's tenure.
 
Former #1 picks always get picked up by someone who thinks they can turn lemons into lemonade.

Sometimes it works, but most often when it does the player in question has been injured and the team gives up on him and then he goes elsewhere and recaptures his health and becomes productive.

I had an argument with an Eagles fan that thought Howie Roseman 'stole' Jahan Dotson from the Commanders when the trade was made for essentially a #3 pick.

He said Dotson never got a chance to play in the 'right' system in Washington. I said the Eagles overpaid for him and probably could have gotten him for a #5 or #6.

I just laughed it off and said while I thought Roseman was a good GM in this case we had watched the player play a lot of reps in this league and he simply can't get off the line of scrimmage at his size and make plays.

But hope springs eternal.
