Yep, and the summer ain’t even here yet.

I get the feeling another several players from last year will be handed their walking papers.

Martavis Bryant scheduled to work out with us today.

He's had a checkered past with multiple suspensions regarding substance abuse. He was out of the NFL for 5 years, but made appearances in the XFL. He's gonna be 33 this year. I dont know about this... not sure he fits, but this appears to be a really strong locker room. Curious where his heads at.

The fact Washington gave Sam Hartman a fairly large guaranteed base for a UDFA to me meant one of the other quarterbacks was heading out of town.

Not surprised Fromm was first.

One would have to think if Hartman looks good in camp and the preseason he will be the #3.

Jeff Driskel was pretty awful the few times I saw him play in the NFL so while he has experience it isn't exactly experience with success :D

From PFT (note returner experience):

Free agent wide receiver Damiere Byrd is heading to Washington.

Byrd has agreed to terms on a contract with the Commanders, according to multiple reports.

The 31-year-old Byrd has had a long NFL journey since signing with the Panthers as an undrafted rookie in 2015. He’s had two stints in Carolina and two in Atlanta, as well as spending time in New England, Chicago and Houston.

Last year Byrd played in just one game and didn’t catch any passes. He does have experience returning both kickoffs and punts, and the new kickoff rules could give him another opportunity to make the roster, which he’ll have to compete to do in training camp and the preseason.

Crowder did a fairly good job on punts last year but we really didn’t have kick returner that stood out.

The new kick off rules could be good to have a larger guy back catching the ball, This more like a running play than a kick return in a traditional sense. I think Crowder will be the punt returner unless a rookie really goes off in the pre season

At this point I would imagine any player in contention for roster spot from 40 to 53 is going to have special teams be a big factor in them making it, and any skill guys in that group will have a chance to be a returner. Obviously we could see a guy higher on the depth chart take over the role, but the 4th rb / 6th wr/ 6th cb type guys instantly add to their value if they find a way to take over as a full time KR

I agree except for the exception of offensive tackle. I still think we will be aggressively studying the waiver wires and June cuts to bolster the line. I mean even if we struck gold with Coleman you have to look at depth across the line.

Yeah, but I don't think any O-line we bring in would be in competition for that back 1/4 of the roster. That guy would be brought in as a plan.

But then again we were able to find Charles Leno back in 2021 and while not a top tackle was a legitimate NFL starting player for us for a couple of years.

That level of player could be of real value to us in 2024 during this transition.

With all of those tackles going high in the draft there have to be some teams close to the cap that are going to need to release veteran OL already on the roster.

We are one of the teams with a lot of cap space in that event.

I hope the team has more info than we do.

if he's guilty of abusing women, he's a dirtbag, but I hope there isn't an assumption.

That said, the team also can't really sit back and wait and end up getting screwed later, it's kind of a lose - lose situation.

His interviews showed an arrogance that was not very appealing. Good riddance.

Let’s open up a good competition for a kicker.

Yep. His interviews with the team must not have gone well. Besides, this is a new era. I think Harris and company want to keep everything as clean and upright as possible. No stink or smoke allowed.

One possible place to look for a replacement may be the UFL. I've been seeing a lot of made 50+ yard field goals in my intermit viewing.

Cap space that can be carried forward to 2025 if not needed btw…

Amazing that we upgraded our roster talent to the extent we have and still are at the top of the league in remaining cap space. That speaks to smart contracts…

Mclaurin isn't guaranteed?

I would have never thought that
