Washington Commanders Roster Moves: Phidarian Mathis release opens up spot for Jonathan Allen's return from IR
Bye Big Phil
Worst GM in the history of this franchise. He makes Vinny look like Einstein.I use to think Matt Millen was the height of bad picks. To that, Ron Rivera said "Hold my beer!".
The Rook

We were wearing our matching Duke shirts when we saw him here at GT...I think it was his senior year. Duke won the game and we were not well-received as we walked back to the parking lot.Amazing the impact Crowder has had in the past month. I hope we resign him in all honesty. It is not just as a WR but Special Teams as well...
Good owner too. One of the reasons I posted the Sweat thread, because it showed great foresight from the top well in advance. I actually would not mind still having Sweat but not at what he cost.Everytime I think about the AP hiring I note, along with others, I think we hired the best GM in the NFL. Hand's down!

It will be interesting to see if some of these guys go on to have decent careers elsewhere with different schemes.
Example - Gibson is having solid year in NE with over 600 combined yards.
LA obviously saw enough in Forbes to be willing to take on his remaining guaranteed money.
I'm not saying we should have kept any of them but I doubt that none of them can play at this level. I think most of them were seriously overdrafted, leading to unrealistic expectations.
I thought Mike Mayock was just awful with the Raiders, but it would be fun to see if any other executive has ever had as bad a 4 year run in the draft as Ron Rivera.
I think they also just didn't trust his hands. Gibson had a reputation as a fumbler and someone who would fumble at really inopportune times. I'm not sure if he was as bad as his reputation, but I think Rivera more or less put him in the doghouse because of the fumbles. Just didn't trust him.Antonio Gibson was the best guy on offense in Washington that wasn't named Terry for several years. I don't think they let him go because they didn't know that, they let him go because his best years were behind him (which they were). Forbes is a bust. Until the Rams or someone else proves me wrong, I will die on that hill. Who else have we let go that we think will resurrect their career somewhere else?. Montez Sweat definitely will, but I think they knew that and got what they could.
Chase from the same team may be easier to get...Bengals can't afford both but Higgins would likely be cheaper for them.BTW: Tee Higgins is good - hoping we can get him to pair up with Terry. That will make our WR corps one scary outfit to play week in and week out.
That's right, they didn't sign a new deal for Chase. I forgot about that. If we could get JChase, oh mama!Chase from the same team may be easier to get...Bengals can't afford both but Higgins would likely be cheaper for them.
Everyone said Eckler's best years were behind him but he has done well here (minus the concussion time and those can be freak things). I think Gibson would have had a good year in Eckler's role here although probably not as good Eckler had on a per-game basis.Antonio Gibson was the best guy on offense in Washington that wasn't named Terry for several years.
