2024 Roster Updates

The 49ers drafted Driskel and obviously someone in the front office thinks he has value as a depth player. He did play well in the preseason, showing good mobility.

It's just strange on a rebuilding team with younger players that we have TWO backups that are near or over 30.

The knock on Hartman has been his arm strength down the field, but if Peters gave him a bonus to sign here there must be some upside to pull out of him.

I don't dislike Mariota per se, but a quarterback room of Daniels - Driskel - Hartman looks OK.

Maybe Philly will feel sorry for us and give us a conditional seventh for Forbes

Except Roseman would probably find him a spot as a punt returner and he would make the pro bowl team.

Just the way things seem to go around here in DC.

Still waiting for my first sighting of Johnny Newton since the draft.

Well we know York will be a pro bowl kicker for another team in a few years.

I could see Newton coming back and us trading Allen or Payne at some point this year.

It was worth a LOT more to provide Daniels with more weapons and protection in 2024 than worrying about getting a future draft pick for Allen.

We could have traded Allen at the draft and gone into this year with Payne, Ridgeway and Mathis with a middle round pick as the #4 to develop on a younger team.

Meanwhile that extra pick in an Allen deal could have been a RT, WR, or OG to go along with Brandon Coleman to fortify the offense in 2024.

Daniels was our most important pick in 10 plus years.

You look around at all the moves the Bears made to help Caleb Williams and if you are a judge you have to say we weren't very aggressive at all.

So, Daniels gets to run for his life and we get to see the team lose anyway.

The only difference is unless things change on offense and how it is run, you won't see Daniels standing upright at the end of the season.

And just for the fun of it I looked up the rosters of the 32 NFL teams by age comparison and for a rebuild Washington's roster is not that young.

It appears in the NFC the Eagles, Rams and Packers all have younger rosters than Washington despite being playoff contenders again in 2024.

York has a strong leg but he has suspect accuracy from what I saw.

He never improved from that rookie season with Cleveland in 2022.

Did we keep him long enough to lose the #7 pick?

Nope we keep the pick.

That’s heavily skewed by guys like Bobby Wagner and Zach Ertz and a couple other vets. Stats can be misleading if taken at face value.

York had to be on the team for two games. Geez.

Just watch that #7 pick will turn out to be one of this team's best draft picks in years.

Dallas found the best kicker in the league from MLS and the USFL.

K Austin Seibert is gonna be signed by us it sounds like. Per Tom Pelissero.

He's almost better on field goals than he is extra points :D:D:D

45-56 on FGs and 56-62 on XPM.

I am surprised that after a hot 10-12 on FGs and making all XPs in 2021 in 6 games with Detroit he didn't get a job in 2022.

Never missed a kick under 40 yds but 2/6 in his career beyond 50 and only 80% overall in his career.

JAG and still may be an upgrade, lol…

A kicker that is 80% here in DC will be worshipped like a God! :poop:

Now if we can find linebackers and safeties that can defense a wide receiver screen. Asking too much? ;)

Stats from last night were whacked. Ekeler and Robinson averaged 13 and 16 yards per catch while Ertz and McCaffrey averaged 9 and 6.

If you didn't know any better you would think Ekeler and Robinson were wide receivers and Ertz and McCaffrey were halfbacks or fullbacks.

KIngsbury has some real work to do to beat the Giants.

I know a member started a 2025 draft thread after Game 1 partly as a dig on the gloom around the Game 1 failures, but I tell ya if the team goes out and lets Daniel Jones throw for 250-300 yards and the Giants win the game here in DC, at 0-2 I am going to actually start looking at WRs and CBs for 2025 :p
