I'm not against Bieniemy but I am curious - why are so many so set that he is The Man?

And when I say "many" I don't necessarily mean here (although seeing Chris's post above is what brought it to mind). I am, however, seeing a lot of folks on social media who are basically "Bieniemy or Bust" types.

I think Bienemy is a bigger risk (just because he’s never really been in control of an NFL offense). Other than his association with KC I’m not sure why he’s a ‘sure thing’. Having Mahomes is such a huge factor, who k owns what he is?

I'm certainly intrigued by Bienemy, but to me he comes with the obvious question ... is he here to be the OC or the HC-in-waiting? Those are different investments.

Not knowing the answer to that, I'm kind of in limbo on the hire. Not quite sure if it's a one-year rental we're talking about or what.

For me, it’s complicated.

Shurmur and Zampese don’t tickle my tootsies. They both strike me as vanilla, safe, Rivera-type selections. Change for only the sake of change.

I never heard of Greg Roman prior to this process. Baltimore moving on from him doesn’t fill me with confidence either.

I do have one major concern with Bieniemy, as well, that I have voiced many times and never received any type of satisfying response: what exactly is his role in KC’s offense?

My feeling is that both he and a team that gives him the opportunity to be fully in charge of an offense could potentially hit a home run. Especially a team most likely looking at a 1 year tryout.

Unless we have a secret new-owner-in-waiting with a pretty solid sale agreement in place, I can't see him coming here as the HC-in-waiting. If I were Ron I wouldn't be talking about it and if I were Eric I wouldn't be believing it unless I got something legally binding in writing and maybe not even then. So I think that is something we can take off the table and move forward on the assumption that he would be coming here as just the new OC.

With you in the main, Neo ... but still have doubts.

For one, it's a very strong possibility Ron will be gone after 2023. At which point, EB is the elephant in the room. NOT hiring him as HC would be a potential shitstorm--not something I'm excited about if I'm the new owner. Almost like my hand has been forced. Also not something which as a fan I'm all that interested in having hanging out there.

For two, I guess I would be surprised if EB didn't have an end-game in offering himself up as an OC, here or anywhere else. He wants to be a HC. Like, badly enough to have interviewed for the position 614 times I believe it is.

Just sayin'. I would question just how long we might expect this man to settle for being the OC in Washington.

Guess I'm talking myself into someone I'd be okay with for just one year. Which also doesn't fill me with rainbow and puppy vibes.

Can we just get the new owner already?

I think I’m still on the Bienemy side. Greg Roman is a fine run game coordinator, but Baltimore’s offense has not scared anyone for along time.

Roman is who I want as the top choice. His offenses have been very successful. And yes, they have been run dominant. But what QB will be here that anyone wants to pass 50 times a game? A run centric offense next year may be exactly what they need.

Bienemy is the 2nd choice. I really don’t know what he does Vs what Reid does, but I know he wants a chance to show what he can do. I’m fine with him if they hire him, but he doesn’t have the QB he has in KC. So he will have to adjust to the personnel he has.

The other choices I fit into the Jim Zorn category of “this is who would take the job for what we offered.”

I can’t decide if this is EB being interviewed for a HC position or Shady McCoy being interviewed about EB as a coach. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Eric Bienemy interviews with Commanders on Thursday.

So my prediction of having an OC by Wednesday is out the window, you say? Got it.

Unless the interview is a formality and they don’t let him leave without a signed contract.

No man, when I said Wednesday on last week's pod, I was talking about today. :ROFLMAO:

The level of hype stupidity on Bienemy on social media is shocking. And that's saying something.

Yeah, it is.

I've seen some guys I had thought were mostly sane saying some clearly crazy things.

At least this should come to an end later today or tomorrow.

As long as it’s not Shurmur or Zampese, I’ll live.
