Confirmed Signings

The back end of the OL is still a big question mark. With the lack of offseason work rookie picks like Hurt and the undrafted players have only a small chance to be on the final roster. Instead of more UDFAs the Redskins need to sign a veteran who can bridge us for a year or so.

From the list on ESPN there are a number of vets out there that could help this team.

Teams need to be under the cap by 4pm EDT. Some are well over the cap and may need to release a few players. Maybe, possibly, hopefully :) there can be an OL or two to available for tire kicking or more.

I'd be happier with some O line that are available for ass kicking. Tires don't fight back....

This is a good depth signing.

This smells like a semi-great move!! We need a backup right tackle and I think I read somewhere that he can play guard as well.... Then I found this:

OT Sean Locklear, Age: 30
The skinny: The eight-year pro started 78 games for the Seahawks, but likely will be moving on with Seattle selecting offensive tackle James Carpenter in the first round of this year’s draft to start at right tackle. Seahawks’ brass asked Locklear to restructure his contract last year, and he agreed shave the last two years off of his deal, reducing last year’s salary from $5.4 million to $3.4 million to a one year, $3.25 million deal in 2010. Locklear never complained, and by the end of the season was one of the team’s most consistent linemen. A former member of Seattle’s coaching staff said he believed that Locklear was a top 15 linemen in the league, so there likely will be some interest from teams looking for a right tackle to come in and play right away.
Stay or go? The North Carolina State product will play elsewhere in 2011.

Jammal Brown needs to be pushed at RT based on the reports from camp.

Locklear is capable of starting and may end up doing so here.

Last year our swing tackle was Stephon Heyer.

This roster is shaping up to be much improved.

Albert Haynesworthless was absent from the Pats practice today. No word on why he missed.

On to other news...

Baskin Robbins discounted their banana splits by 95% at the following locations today...Foxborough, MA - Wrentham, MA - and Franklin, MA. McDonald's Corp. matched the offer in the same locales for their famed Big Macs.

Updating a previous item, Redskins SS LaRon Landry admits that he could require Achilles' tendon surgery next offseason it the injury doesn't respond to alternative treatments and rehab.

Rich Campbell of the Washington Times has been legitimately concerned about the injury, suggesting Landry will try to play but won't make it through 16 games. Landry insists he's not worried about a new contract despite the iffy status of his heel. "We'll discuss that when the season's over, I guess," Landry said.

Weren't we going after Ray Willis a year or two back? He's back on the FA table, and a much bigger body, so why no interest in him now?
 
The player that I would like to see us pursue is Taylor Mays. He may be a bust, but we could get him for almost nothing. Low risk/high reward potential there.

Don't you wonder why San Fran is willing to release their 2nd round pick from just a year ago?
 
I'm not worried about picking Mays up. We can release him as fast as we sign him if needed.

My guess is that SF releases him soon if there are no takers. We could probably offer a conditional 7th and get him.
