I dont think he meant anything by it, searching for words answering contract questions in his presser. He signed a team friendly contract. He isnt holding out games. I forgiveI'm sorry. I'm sure he was asked the question, but he needs to deflect.
Saying to the fan base that you were sincere in your request to be traded sounds childish and is just stupid. It certainly doesn't endear anyone to him. Just a bratty thing to say.
Honestly, I view this as a failing of his agent (or the team) someone should have prepped him for that question. It's a bad-look answer. He should be savvier than that. It's just a great soundbite for anyone who wants to stir the pot.I dont think he meant anything by it, searching for words answering contract questions in his presser. He's definitely going to be seen as less of a 'hero' type player and more of a typical NFL player. But once the bullets start flying, if he continues to be a key guy and produces, this will all dissipate and he'll be a fan favorite again.
team wasnt entertaining trades though. Team knew they had him over a barrel basically and still showed love.No matter how you look at it, it’s a bad look for Terry. There was not one reported trade offer for his services - likely for the very same reasons the team wasn’t tripping over itself to meet his demands.

They need eachother at the moment
Let’s be honest. The sun rising in the east adds to the Kevin legend for you.Actually it adds to the Keim legend for me.

if we went one and done in the playoffs last season, think this wouldve gone down different?Teams say the aren’t entertaining trades all the time and still field calls about trades.
They do need each other and I’m glad it’s over. But the silence post trade request was rather damning. Not because he’s not a good player but he’s asking for a mint, and you have to give up assets to get him. It’s a short list of dudes who can pull that off.
| Year | Cap Hit | Age | Context | Keep % |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2027 | ~$25.5M | 31 | Still likely productive, cap environment makes it manageable, no dead cap penalty to cut. | 65% chance kept |
| 2028 | ~$31M | 32 | Higher cap number, age-related decline more likely, team could draft cheaper WR replacement. | 35% chance kept |
So, what if he is like Art Monk and has 86 catches for 1186 yards and 8 TDs in his age 32 season?
You just don’t know. Terry has been very consistent and durable and has not suffered an ACL or Achilles that would likely impact his longevity up to this point.
Actually it adds to the Keim legend for me. He makes points in such understated ways, unlike for example Schefter who comes off so definitive, that sometimes I pause to wonder if he's not 100% sure. But 90% or so of the time he nails it. And the odd thing about him is he seems to have no interest in getting credit for it or being the first with the info.
When all of the reporters were guessing what the true AAV was, Keim said he thinks it could be 29 million. When Keim even soft pedals his points, it’s usually something he's heard that he trusts.
I can see that perhaps.
With Terry specifically, according to Keim among others they've strongly hinted that whatever compromise figure they might hit for Terry this team feels is an above market deal. So if its 28 million for example, they'd think its an overpay but I gather will do it for Terry. But they feel Terry's wants is an absurd overpay.

Yep, I was wrong. Buddy was the chicken. So 2 years $25M per. Terry blinked - I would bet that has been about what the team had on the table for a while.
It’s a fair deal for both sides IMO.
I suspect there will be a few boo birds if there is a drop week 1.View attachment 12439
If he looks rusty or catches a hammy in the first couple weeks and the team gets off to a poor start…he is gonna get dragged so hard.
