People are talking about a Super Bowl. Run this year and I think it's a little premature. Give us another year or two to fill out the roster a bit more and JD will be a solid vet by then.

In some respects, every Super Bowl run is lucky. You have to avoid injuries, get a few lucky bounces, and maximize your opportunities.

But I do hear you, our preseason has made me a little less comfortable with our progress. I don't know what to expect in year two. Part of me thinks that is by design.

It seems Washington is keeping an outsized group of linebackers given the number of 2 linebacker sets this coaching staff likes to use.

One of the linebackers is Von Miller who is actually a rush edge.

Yeah, that does skew the numbers a bit. But Miller is going to be used as a rush specialist.

I still think 6 LBs is quite a bit given no more than 3 can play at a time and most often only 2 are on the field together.

Maybe they are just waiting for the inevitable Jordan Magee injury... (I jest, I jest)

Not that there isn't truth to the sentiments but we've spent so many years buried in analytics it feels like we've forgotten how to be fans, lol.

We're going into year two with a superstar quarterback and a phenomenal coaching staff by all accounts we should be better than last year and last year we won 12 games and almost went the distance.

Enthusiasm should be much higher for this team and ironically in the real world it is but in our little world we're terrified from years of abuse.

I guess we're gonna find out in a week and a half where we really stand but until then im assuming the national media is right and we're one of the top teams until proven otherwise by something other than scrubs playing in the preseason.

I would say we got decidedly unlucky in the Bears game that we dominated from basically start to finish to need a Hail Mary to win in the first place. Giants game was week 2 and still getting our footing, but yes, they didn’t have a kicker. Somehow we were in the red zone all day and ended up with 7 FGs. You think that happens in the second half of Jayden’s season?

How about missing an extra point to tie a game? Seems pretty unlucky to me.

I’ll give you the Hurts concussion, though not sure it mattered the way the game flowed.

The luckiest thing all year was we fumbled 20 times and only lost 7.

I’ve heard this lucky narrative a lot and just not really seeing the evidence once examined.

I like this team as well. Dont think we are a Super Bowl winning roster right now. Especially on defense. But no one knows what will happen with injuries throughout the league. A couple of injuries on other contenders and it is wide open.

He was drafted as a project and may never pay off, but he’d have to be unbelievably bad to be cut after his rookie year, almost no one does that. And that includes guys who end up doing absolutely nothing, he’s at least gotten on the field a bit and played ST’s as well

I guess my point is, it doesn’t really mean they like something specific about him so much as it means they perceive his development as continuing to move forward, given they knew they were drafting a big project that may take multiple years

Because the teams are cutting down to 53 on one day instead of the 2 or 3 cutdowns we had in the past, there are going to be more opportunities to find players that can help the team that they may have been interested in during the draft or previous free agent cycles.

I would not be surprised to see another WR, OL or defensive end get picked up.

I also have my doubts that after years here that Chris Paul has finally arrived as an NFL ready player who we can trust to go in for an injured starter and perform at greater than a replacement level.

All the LB’s just make me think they plan to really lean into utilizing Luvu even more at the LOS as a pass rusher, with less of him in coverage and less playing a traditional linebacker role. That’s why they’re so obsessed with Magee getting healthy and being on the field I think, bc they envision he and Wagner out there at LB while Luvu moves around as a rusher

I wouldn’t read too much into it. “All” the linebackers is a total misnomer.

1) Miller - exclusively a pass rusher.
2) Bellore - might as well be listed in the specialist column not LB.
3) Medrano - more hybrid safety/LB then pure LB.
4) Kaho made it because quite frankly he earned it. But still could be vulnerable to moves (WR, C…)

Really the true linebacker room is 4ish with Wagner, Luvu, MaGee and Kaho. Wagner and Luvu will likely still see super high snap counts. I think the excitement and curiosity for MaGee has more to do with can be stay healthy and earn some snaps from Wagner this year so we know what we have because we aren’t expecting Bobby back next year. If MaGee can’t stay healthy and show he belongs then it’s a big gap/unknown next offseason.

Yeah, I can see that way of thinking by this front office. I'm definitely pulling for his development, and he may be on track. Hopefully the patience will come with that.

I think the answer is Allegretti, but he's going to be the starting guard for Cosmi who's on PUP. So that means they would have to put Wylie in at Guard and slide Allegretti to center.

It's possible they sign a Center.

To me a big question, how can we be here with backup C? It was identified as a need all through last season

Really it is the same with a QB3, we all knew deep down Hartman wasn't the real deal
