Do you think we pick anybody up post cuts?
You think there's going to be any surprise cuts on our part?

Does this make sense to anyone else? He is saying two opposite things?

He’s saying don’t expect the team to announce cuts officially until the deadline, all professional like. But expect cuts to leak from the players + agents beforehand, so there will be reports earlier than that

Refresh my memory.

If a team tries to sign one of your players off the practice squad, you have the right to call them up to your 53 instead, is that correct?

Take this answer for whatever it's worth, but here's what ChatGPT had to say (And I think it's true because it's my recollection as well...)

Yes, that’s correct.

Here’s how it works under NFL rules:

  • Any player on a practice squad is technically a free agent — other teams can sign them at any time, but only to their 53-man active roster, not to another practice squad.
  • Your team has “right of first refusal”: If another team offers one of your practice squad players a 53-man roster spot, you can immediately promote that player to your own 53-man roster instead, keeping him in-house.
  • If your team doesn’t promote him, the player is free to accept the other team’s offer.

This is why practice squad call-ups often happen suddenly — teams want to protect players they think are about to get poached.

Remember a guy a couple of years ago refused to accept a practice squad claim from another team and decided to stay with Kansas City and ended up being called up and winning the Super Bowl.

I think our backup plan was the rookie Lane playing that role. Really sounded like none of the other WR's could remotely step into those shoes.

Yeah nobody thought anybody on our roster could replace Terry, I just meant we would have kept Gallup if needed to fill out the WR corps. Luckily it didn’t come to that.

I assume Gallup being cut means we will have Terry, Deebo, Noah, Luke, and Lane. Anybody I’m missing to replace one of them or be WR6? Maybe KJ Osborn?

I’m thinking Gallup must have been our backup plan if Terry refused to play.
The problem with that thought is he couldn't even lock down WR#6, he couldn't possibly have been counted on to play meaningful snaps.

Well Fudge me (but he didn’t think Fudge). Dieter is still in the running backup center.
He's going to be the center for now. They like him. I'm not sure why, he played like poop on a stick last year. But they like him.

I HOPE he's not the Quinn/Kliff version of whatshisface Luavao or however you spelled his name who literally everybody could see couldn't play except genius Jay Gruden who kept saying Luavao is good, man! And kept being wrong. Dumbass.

Hard to believe isn't it? I figured that would have been one of the weaknesses they would have easily upgraded.

They thought they could catch lightning in a bottle with Gallup. Instead, put a fork in him as he can't even beat out Osborn.
